D42 was good

Had fun once again with Gary and Jeff. I recorded a new best although it is really just a tie of my old ET. Here are my runs.

#1- 13.884 @ 100.88 w/ 2.163 60'
#2- 13.824 @ 101.73 w/ 2.154 60'
#3- 13.741 @ 102.73 w/ 2.177 60'
#4- 13.838 @ 100.93 w/ 2.147 60' and GF in the car. Needless to say I got yelled at on that one too.

New sig will read 13.7 @ 103 w/ 2.2 60' though. Round to the nearest # rule.

All in all I was same ET w/ 1 mph faster and a slower 60'. Waswa, I should have got those tires. lol Things are looking good but I think I have something broke inside the driver side valve cover. I'll check it out this winter.

If you get a good tq and some tires, even with your 2.73's your car would pick up probably a good .5 seconds, maybe more.

Good times. How did the other guys do?

well im finally starting to show signs of improvement what sucks is that i only got to make 1 good run due to the fact that i got off 2 exits early and the place was packed!!! anyways heres my only real run (don't ask about my first run, the track official told me to shut down at the 1/8 or leave cuz i didnt have a helmet on that run and my exhaust was a little loud with the cutout uncapped) ran a 14.8@77

5.10 r/t
2.207 60ft
13.137 1/4
110.40 1/4 mph

my car would not hook up at all either!!! what do you expect with kuhmos though, 2nd and 3rd shifts were scary, the *** end slid out bad!!! it never did that in 3rd before!! im just glad that its finally starting to run like it should, weird thing is all i did since the last time i went to the track was add a afpr, i doubt that did much but who knows, i still need to track down my knock retard problem too, now that ive renewed confidence in my car im gonna get it dynoed and fix all the drivability problems it has, all in all it was a good day

Hey Gary your car is pretty fast, even faster than mine The fastest I ever ran on Kumhos was against Ryan, 13.179 @ 106.58mph and that was with a 2.016 60ft. Who knows what you could have run if you had drag radials. Your mph on Kumhos was higher than my best mph on drag radials

Great runs Gary. I would not be surprised if you ran low 12's@112-113 if you would have had some traction. Congrats. Just what until you start working out the bugs and tuning issues.

Damn Gary, that was a good run. You should definitely be at least mid 12s with that.

Highlight of the day though was a old Toyota Spirit??? that straight gave it to me. 11.7 @ 106.

EDIT: Jeff was able to break into the 13.7s again at 99 mph. I'm sure he will be here to post.

yeah ryan that toyota murdered you!!!! i forgot to add that i raced a z06 on the way home too, i think he was a little puzzled by the fact that i beat him TWICE from a 70mph roll, it was a good day for the camaro, me and jeff also got a nice ricer flyby on the way home on 71

after that run i was extatic!! i know that if i would have been able to make a few more runs and try out a few different launches i would have hit 12s im sure of it!! im just glad things are finally starting to look good for the car! dont forget too i still have full weight in the car including leather seats and i still have the stock 3.42 gears, oh low 12s arent too far away anymore!!

i also wanted to know if anyone has lt1 edit or something i can use to tune and log some track runs so that i could get the car dialed in, or does anyone have experience with lt1 edit or tunercat or whatever, i may end up buying something now cuz i think that pcmforless might be hurting me

You have ODB_1, which I am sure you already knew, but by having that, it is a big perk for you. LT1_Edit is going to cost you around $200 plus a cable to interface. There are free scanning programs for your version also(just need a cable). A little more the a pcmforless reprogram cost, but you can reprogram yourself as many times as you want.

Word of advice, there is no documentation to using the software if you buy it, very short learning curve. But once you play with it, very interesting on what you can control and what you can modify.

The reason I say it is a perk for you. I have a 96 Z28, which I am sure you know is ODB_II. My LT1_Edit cost with a GP, $500. My scanning software cost, $250. Ouch.

Congrats on the Z06 kill there gary! That's awesome. I must say you showed quite a bit a patience with that ricer on the way home. I was gonna chase him down at first, but decided it wasn't worth the gas. Lemme know if you guys have any problems.

Holy Crap!!! That toyota was something else! That was one hell of a holeshot, what kind of 60ft time did he get?

Did he have a SBC under the hood of that thing because 11.7 @ 106mph isn't really what a turbo car would run. A supra would run 11.7 @ 125mph!

His 60' was a 1.5 That thing slowed way down though after the holeshot. Here is his slip. IT did not at all sound like any type of SBC. Sounded like a 2 stroke motor that I had in my old four wheeler. My guess is it was a 4 banger. All his windows were plexiglass, no roll down, no bumper, nothing. It was completely stripped.

1.536= 60'
4.669=330'
7.345= 1/8
91.86= 1/8 mph
9.678= 1000'
11.782 @ 106.94 mph 1/4

And I thought I had topend problems. I have seen those guys out before. Loud, very loud cars, I believe they are some of the rotary cars. If I remember correctly, their motors are very small but powerful.

I think the motor is not very powerful from that timeslip, his car is just very light. One of our parts guys at work has an extremely lightweight mopar with only 300 flywheel hp and runs high 11s with similar kind of 60ft times. Actually its a stripped down Dodge Lancer GT (I've never see one on the street nor do I know anything about them) and it has a 318 2-barrel.
It doesn't matter how much HP they have anyway because both cars are way faster than mine.

Hey Gary its Brian Flick! Sounds like your car is getting to be where it should be! I am still trying to get abck to the track to get a clean pass. I ran two passes with my new set-up on my 26x10.5x16 ET Streets. My very first run ever on Slicks. I aired the tires to 15psi smoked them up REALLY good using 2nd gear!. I staged my SS and brought the rpms to 5000 and dumped the clutch! The car hooked AWESOME, all I saw was blue sky! Steve and Chris(black 96 Z28 w/ "INSANEZ" plates, and Chris has my old Iroc-Z) said it looked like I pulled the fronts a bit and had full extension on my front suspension! It felt like I got a$$-ended by a suburban doing 80mph About 1-2 seconds after I launched I mashed the pedal to the floor, my damn slicks broke loose and the rear swung out to the left. I was heading at a 2 o'clock position towards the spectator's side wall I slammed 2nd the the rear swung the other direction and I was at almost a 11 o'clock postion toward the center line and stayed that way until I slammed 3rd, then it got straight! I ended up with a 12.5@114mph and a 1.7 60ft. My second pass I dropped tires to 12psi and launched at 5500rpm. I dumped it and hooked great, 1.6 60ft, and it stayed straight! I knew this was my 11 sec pass! I slammed second and only got a chirp. I was racing a LSI T/A. He dialed in at a 13.5 and me at 12.25. I left the line and then 1.25 seconds later I got to leave the line. I shot passed him about 7 car-lengths from the start line. I knew I was going to breakout because the T/A was running consistand 13.4-13.6. I went to shift to 3rd near the concession stand and I shifted to 5th instead! I didn't realize it though for at least 2-3 seconds. I felt the car slowing down but my tach was still at 5000rpm(as the clutch was slipping do to my dumba$$). I lokked down at the shifter and realized what I had done, so I pulled it over to 3rd and passed the clocks to a 12.9@107 with a 1.60 60ft. This was in June with temps around 80-85, and BEFORE Thompson switch to their high heat compound and on a Wensday night, no TRACK PREP! ALL in all I knew that 2nd pass would've been a 11. Rapid Motorsports www.rapidmotorsports.com did my package. When he first started with his 9sec WS6, the car had the exact same complete package(down to my spark plugs) and he ran 11.6@124 with a 1.5 60ft with 26x11.5x16 et streets!
