Cutouts

I have a cutout sitting in my garage and have been thinking about having someone weld it on for me. I haven't put it on because i don't know if it will pass emissons with it on, I have also herd something about that they are illegal just to have on ur car so im not sure. Also if i were to put it on where should i have it welded? After the headers and before the cat? Or somewhere after the cat?

Most people have it welded after the cat in that straight pipe before it goes over the rear axle. Thats where mine is. Technically they are illegal but most shops wont care. I know that two shops i went to had no problem with my cat back there and thats illegal. so i dont see why they will care that their is a cutout there now. I dont exactly know how it would effect emissions though you should be fine with that.
