chrome wheels

I have the stock 5 spoke chrome 16" wheels on my Z & 2 of them are starting to pit where the tire bead seats. They had slow leaks so I had them checked out & the pitting is not allowing the tire bead to seat correctly. They did a temporary fix & they are ok for now but I'm thinking I may need to ck out new wheels for my car.
I'm looking to replace them with the same size chrome wheels as my tires are fairly new,but also considering stepping up to 17" chrome wheels if I can get a good price on a tire/wheel pkg.I like the SS wheels & the Vette wheels also.
Any ideas from anyone ? Also if I go with a 17" wheel will I have to have the computer flashed for the new tire size ? Thanks to anyone who can offer some guidance.

Well you have two options:

A) Go steal Ed's, he won't notice for a few months until the snow melts.

B) There is actually a GP going on in the vendor section for SS wheels.

I keep trying to talk myself into getting the 17X11!

That will require the 10lb sledge mod to the wheel well first.

Check out TomZ Wheels for some great wheel/tire package prices. You could always sell the old 16" tires for a couple $$$ down the line.

You shouldn't need to have the PCM reprogrammed, as long as you match the tire sidewall to the new rims. The difference between actual speed and speedometer would be minimal.

Thanks for the TomZ wheels idea,I never heard of them,I'll ck them out & thans for the info on reprogaming the computer, which I assume would be if I go with 17's but can get a tire size that matches the height of the 16's with tires I'll be okay, otherwise as myslowcamaro says,I'll have to reprogram

Link removed, sent you PM...

Yeah, common tire size for a 16" wheel is 255/50/16 and stock 17"s come with 275/40/17s. The shorter sidewall makes up for the bigger wheel diameter. Check out Injuneer's FAQ though for the final word
