Angry Atco sucked tonight!!

Get there at about 7:15, and not one run had been made. Took until about 8:30 for them to start, why it took so long to dry the track was beyond me. And then, to top it off, they only did 1/8th mile, and it was terrible. I was so pissed after my first run (all I did was spin the tires and wiggle my **** down the track) that I got a raincheck and bailed. That's twice in a row now that the track prep has sucked and it hasn't hooked. Is something up?

So, you spun after they took an hour to dry the track and you're saying that you wanted them to dry it quicker?? Sounds to me like it needed a bit more drying .

What you all don't seem to realize is that Atco is not as big a track as E-town or The Grove. They do not hold a single Pro NHRA race. Therefore, they are not equiped to handle these situations as well as other tracks.

Oh! Ok, that explains it then. I was not aware of that. I guess I got spoiled this summer by the track being so sticky. Such is life I guess. Oh, and they had been drying the track since 4 pm according to the workers, that's why I was annoyed with it.

Remember, the track NEVER hooks great right after it gets wet. The water brings up all the oil and crap from the track surface/rubber.

3.5 hours to dry the track seems a bit long..but here in Newark DE we had a FEW rain showers up untill 6:30,and they were headed west, right towards Atco.

Atco is usually good as for track prep, but as Jacki said they are not a big track. So they dont have the equipment to take care of it. Holding a Zippo or Bic lighter over usually takes a few hrs to make it dry. Also just as Dirk said... water and race tracks usually dont mix. They could dump a 55 gallon drum of VHT on the starting line and it wouldnt do a thing if the rubber underneath still has moisture in it. Thats why I never go after is has rained. Tuesday nights are pretty good, they run Gamblers then so the track usually hooks but you usually dont get alot of t-n-t cause of them. Thursday is better for getting more runs in, but theres a ton of street tire cars there which also tear the track up. Friday nights just flat out suck because its almost always packed. On Fridays, I usually go just for the fun of haning with people. IMHO, Saturday afternoons in the winter for t-n-t is the best time to go (assuming the weather is ok).

But if you happen to catch them on a night thats not real busy, the weather is just right and not alot of street tire cars around... it can be a very fast track...

Yeah, I'm not knocking that at all. I'm cutting consistent 1.9x short times on my street tires ( I'm on of "those" guys on street tires ) , and I've pulled 7+ runs on a Friday night before also. I was just a little annoyed because I'm leaving Friday for a month, and will only have a couple tnt's left when I get back on Dec. 8th. They were cool at least last night and gave me a rain check for my admission and my gf's so it's all good. Stupid rain.

The whole 1/8th mile thing sucked. If they had gotten the jet-dryer running, I think they could have gotten things moving a little quicker. On my first run though, I pulled a 1.9x 60 ft on my street tires, my best ever. I was wondering where you went, Fastbird.

Home I was pissed. I may drop out Thursday night, but I leave for the middle east for a month (if I'm lucky the way things are heading) on Friday, so I can' make any guarantees.
