does that mean you have to run from 13.99 to 12.00 being the limit? so anything faster than a flat 12 is a breakout?

The other races are normal brackets.

Re: atco question
Even in "heads up" racing you need a good reaction time. The first car to cross the finish line will have left the starting line as quickly as possible.
Do you watch NHRA pro drag racing on Sunday nights??? Ever heard of a "whole-shot" win? That means that the car who won had a slower ET but a quicker reaction time... For example:
John Force runs a 4.60 with a .050 reaction time to WIN the race.
Ron Capps runs a 4.58 with a .150 reaction time to LOSE the race.
It happens all the time. There is NO FORM OF RACING where reaction time doesn't matter. Clocks or no clocks, you NEED to react quickly or it could cost you the race.
And Jim is right, Atco does have heads up racing. They run the Quick 8 race usually on the last Thursday night of the month but not always. Check the schedule. Cecil and Etown also run a Q8 race. Atco also had Index racing for those that do not have the budget to build a sub 7 second car to run with the big dogs in the Q8. The Index classes include 12.0, 10.0 and 8.5 categories. This is still bracket racing but you don't get to choose your dial in and you run on a pro tree rather than a full tree. Again though, if you're opponent reacts quicker than you, he/she already has a huge advantage and could most likely cross the finish line first...
