Any dyno tuners for 3rd gens in MD/PA ??
Any dyno tuners for 3rd gens in MD/PA ??
I'm trying to finish up my 87 Iroc. There's no way I wanna haul it 5 hours to OH though. And I'd like to take it to Ocean City in May. I'd be much more comfortable with a dyno tune than a mail order. Anyone near Frederick Md or Chambersburg PA ?

I live between Carlisle and Gettysburg and I can do these but have a few Q's
Are you still running the 87 computer or have you up graded to the 91 TPI "730' computer? I would reccomend this change if you haven't done it.
How big is the cam?
Have you run the car at all yet with the stock program?
Would you be willing to have a Wide Band bung put into your exhaust pipe?
In general, the biggest problem is getting good driveability and idle especially if you have a decent size cam. That's what takes the time. I would need to have a car for a couple of days at my house in a street legal form to get the driveability stuff straightened out. It takes a lot of driving under differing load conditions and a lot of chip burning to get the VE table just right. The dyno stuff is cake after that. The dyno I use is 20 minutes from my place.
BTW, I don't do this for a living, I just like to dork around with EFI stuff.

Still 87 computer, ZZ9 cam for now, motor isn't in car yet, still need a TQ converter and little stuff, wideband would be o2 sensor size right?, car has no tags on it.
Who's dyno do you use? How many of these have you done? What would it cost?

The 87 computer is a '165 and I believe that it is a mass air system. I have not done any 87's but most GM EFI stuff is generaly the same, I've done a BB with a TPI setup, Worked on a Blown 455 Olds with a Syclone Computer on it, Do my 94 F body all the time, Have done a 93 F body with a procharger. So I know my way around pretty good. If yours is indeed a mass air system, that may make the driveability stuff a bit easier. I use Kauffman Motorsports dyno in Dillsburg PA. They're a bunch of Ford guys over there and I'm their token GM guy. They like bust my ***** all the time. It's all in fun though. I'm out till Saturday. See Ya

2fbodies,
Steve is a stand up guy, and does good work. I have looked at his code personally. you are going to get a real tune including VE and not some quick fix PE / Injector mail order .25 cent job. In fact I keep trying to get in touch with him to help with overflow work I have...but that bastage always has his phone off
!

I use Kauffman's dyno because it's very close for me. I wouldn't say I endorse one shop over another. For me, I just use their rolls and not necesarily their tuning expertise since I do my own tuning. I haven't used Mcnew's but I'm sure they're fine to deal with also.
