Another Club????
Another Club????
Ok, here is the deal, I have recently become very passionate about fbodies and LT1 LS1's in general. I Live in READING PA (actually SHillington), and work in the POTTSTOWN area. I wanted to start something for those of us with the same intrests locally, but welcome to people abroad as well....
Get togethers, Meetings, Picnics, Drag Races, AutoCross...etc.....
Honestly, Im a cop by proffession, and havnt a clue what to do to get this started, but I know enough people that I feel I could get it going... My question is.... do I have enough interest to put the effort into it... ie: getting the word out there, a specific site for our club..... things like that.
Give me your advise...positives, and negatives, just dont be rude (please), so that I can see how worth it this will be... Lets face it, 5-10 of us with fbodies can meet up every once in a while to BS, tell stories check each others cars, rides, and girls out... but I think it would be more fun to get something organized, and Im willing to be the shmuck to take on that responsibility...
So in turn.... give me your ideas, either on here or PM me
and if your interested, give me your name and a contact like an email or something, or phone number, so we can discuss this.... Last but not least, just give me a metaphorical head count letting me know... YEAH or NEAH.
ThankYou

www.motorcityforums.com (home of street lethal f-bodies)
edit: maybe not the answer you were looking for? but if you want to start your own club, it takes alot. i think. especially to get the word out, and people to actually join the board!

Interested in AutoX, i think all the Solo events are done for the year. But check out www.PhillySCCA.com is pretty cool. I snap some photos for them.
The closest they ever get to you is about Northampon Community College for an AutoX tho. Rest are at Boeing, Warminster, Ripken Maryland, and some other places.

I din't see Chalfont, Bucks County. Dang!!!
After all the work you guys did on my car!!!
Popo8, while it seems the last couple of posts are off the topic, they actually illustrate one point that what is important for a successful "club" which is the chemistry of its members to do things together no matter what the distance. That is, at times, the hardest component in getting a club started.
The first thing you really need to do right out of the gate, is to post on boards like this one of your planned event or get togethers and gauge the interest of those that show up. If you can get a decent core of people, things will just flow from there.
One of the things I notice down here, is that there isn't a formal club per se, yet there is the same obvious "groups" of people that come together for a particular reason. There are three or four guys I drag race with, another set to check out car shows with and a third for "mechanical fun". On the latter, the guys up at Motorcity forums claim my car to be their club car as many have has a hand in it's modding....and they can't wiat to bring out their hammers to bang a new set of heads on.
So you need to find that "core" or loosing fitting group of guys that ebb and flow to various events on a consistent basis for the beginning formation of a new club.
Good luck to ya...
Oh yeah, Chalfont one of those three traffic light town about an hour and a half away from anything "Reading".

Thanks , I appreciate that... see I hang out with a bunch of guys from the KNOPPSPERFORMANCE.com Board, and 2 guys have camaros, and the owner has a bad *** 8sec TA (same guy with the twin turbo s-10).... numerous customers have fbodies as well... Im always at the shop when Im not working, and thats what got me thinking about the club... Also when we had our little Maple Grove get together we had about 4 or 5 more people from this site, and other camaro sites get together... My idea was to get all these bunch of guys together for events as well as BS sessions...
I guess if there are a bunch of guys local that do things together, there is no need for me to start another group, (it would almost seem like competitiion).
I guess I need to see how many people would truly be interested in making a FORMAL club, or if it would just be easier to have a get together of people of similar intrests, now and then....
I'll ride this thread out through the winter and see where its at come spring when people wanna break the cars back out....

streetlethal used to be a formal club, until it got out of hand and it wasnt enjoyable anymore. now we try and have a get together once a week, and just shoot the breeze. its really fun, and everyone on the motorcityboard we know each other by name. its like a second family.

I just joined motor city, still trying to navigate my way around the site to find where and when you guys meet....
Welcome to the Motor City Larry, feel free to look around! Since the core of our membership is scattered around Eastern and Central PA the meets change from week to week, sometimes Danville/Bloomsburg, sometimes Pottsville/Frackville, etc. Also we try to caravan to most of the major auto shows and cruises that hit the area, and are in the planning stages of organizing our own cruises for 2007. I think a group of F-Bodies are planning to be at Eastwood this Saturday, which is pretty much right in your own backyard
