3rd bracket race in the rustang

Third time out this season. Still not happy with the my lights and had more luck than skill.

http://www.dragraceresults.com/resul...1680&track=159

Ran the car the next day at Raceway Park and lost in the 5th round (semi finals).

I'm very happy on how consistant this car runs. Just got to work on the tree.

Nice Job Jim!! sometimes being lucky is all you need... maybe the other guy was just unlucky,

If he didn't red light he would have had you all the way down the track... At this point it does not matter.. you won! So what is better? The win or the check?

The win was great (points, picture, congrats, acomplishment, etc) but the check lets me keep racing for the next 3 months.

Luck is where skill and preparation meet. Final round I mistaged the car by not going in deep enough. Shooot, take another bump, raise rpm no just not enought time, got to keep cool and hit the tree. I'm going to be .080 on the tree and holding .06 ok I'll take the loss. That went though my head in an instant just before the tree came down. I hit my spot then got ready for a really big top end dump, looked for him in the mirror, then heard on the radio that I got the win. Sure enough a huge win light on my side of the track. I got luckey on his red but was planning to push him out on the top and force a brakeout. If he went green he had a good chanch of winning but I did have another plan.

Jax, next time. Depending on how this weekend at the Grove goes will decide if I'm racing at MG or AR on the 12th. The way the car is now running I should be able to hit the tree better at MG. I know that I'm now a target at AR and better be able to cut better than .040 lights.

What kind of car does he (or did he) race? Is he an Atco regular? The name doesn't ring a bell but I don't know a lot of peoples' names at the track... I know what they drive and what they look like.

And since we hijacked Jim's thread already... We found a 63 shell for my car already! Woohoo!

Jax, spoke to your dad Saturday. He is fine and glad he didn't see you tumble. I didn't get to ask him why he had the Bandit out. Getting the dust off the car for a new driver? Since were off the thread.... how did Tony do (NOPI) down south?

The Backyard Bandit was already at the track and my dad was itching to get out there so he ran that car. The vega is still for sale and he'll probably run that the next time he goes down.

I was glad he didn't see me roll the car too. It's bad enough Rick had to see it... I can't imagine how my dad would have reacted!!

No luck at the NOPI race... it rained the ENTIRE weekend. It really sucked to drive 750 miles in the motorhome with the trailer, averaging 6mpg to watch it rain. Ugh!

Ken is from NJ near summerville. he a real nice, very soft spoken guy. Drives a ( I think year is ) 68-69 Camaro is Super, and a 63 Biscayne in Pro/foot brake races. He hasn't raced point at atco in 3-4 years. In 06 he did allot of the money races ( Bill Mitchell ) at Atco and MG, last year he only ran the camaro and did a few races late in the season.

I bowl with him and we were talking racing and such and he mentioned your father, said he knew you too.

Small world, isn't it?! I'll ask my dad about him - I know he would recognize the name... I'm sure I would know him if I saw him.
