1st bracket race in the rustang = FUBAR
First points race at Atco. First time shot cut .078 light and run 14.02x. I added 2lbs of air to the rear tires and footbraked 250 rpms higher. Weather got a little worse. Cut a .028 light and ran dead on the predition of 14.04x. Ok we're raceable. First round of eliminations I dialed a 14.04 and cut a very red -.050. DEAD first round. Not only that but I miss dialed the car. I went a 14.07 flat out on a 14.04 dial. Gotta pay more attention of what i'm doing. I was soooo ticked off I failed to say good by to anyone. Sorry Rick and Jax. I couldn't understand why I went sooo red. I felt like I hit my spot on tree. ??????????? Replaying the run back on my 2 hour drive back home I remembered that I relaxed just before my spot and I believe the car started to creep forward. Seems like 1750 is the upper rmp limit that the car can be held and requires a bit of grunt on the brakes. FUBAR. FUBAR. FUBAR. Next week I'm droping back down to a 1500 RMP launch and adding 3 more pounds of air to the back tires. Burtal learnig curve.

I was 2nd round runner up.
I don't know the guy I ran first round. We both shallow staged (he said he is also a former deep stager). He dialed a 10.60 and I dialed a 9.97. I was .022 on the tree to his .091. I was on the brakes through the traps and still broke out by .002 (took off at least .007). He broke out by .040. I took him through by .0375 - so-so run but win light for me!
Second round I had "Big Bucks" Bob Mullaney. Great. Bob is deep stager still so I waited to do my burnout until he was done giving him time to light both bulbs. I turned on my top bulb and we both bumped in the rest of the way. I was .037 to his .027. He was dialed 11.19 and ran 11.192. I was dialed 9.95 and ran 9.937. I took him through by .0052 - win light for Bob. It was a good run though and I'm liking the whole switch to shallow staging... it's easier.

Bob can race. Aint't no disgrace loosing to him. (yes I know) He's always 02x on the tree and is a killer on the top end always running on the number. Doesn't matter if its a 14 or 9 second ride. I have a picture of me and him in my office. He gave me a top end lesson taking strip by a wheel. I try to use Bob's method when racing. Mr Percentages. If your 020 on the light and run your number you will most likely win. Plan to drop rmp by 150 and add 2 more pounds of air to the rear tires. See ya next Saturday.
We shall see how this Saturday goes. I'm not used to this new points system though.
I'll be missing the third race at the end of the month to go to a NOPI race with my bro in Atlanta... should be a good time!

Points are now the same as MG. 10 for staging in round 1, 10 points each round win. Bonus points are 5 to win, 3 ru, 2 semi, and 1 for quarter finals. This keeps it close. You only get a 1/2 round bonus for a win. I'll try again Satuday. I don't expect too much since I can't leave hard enough to cut a light at ATCO. 3.73 gears go in next week. The 3rd race should be a different story. I should pick up 400-500 on the tree with the gears. This will put me around 1500 RPM for a 000 light.

Paintworks Mustang. Mike Barber, 2004 Div 1 street champ. Ex deep stager that used a blinder. Working on a shallow stage without the blinder this season. At Maple last season that footbrake stang put quite a lot of pipe racks back into their trailers in Super Pro. Mike also ran Pro.

I seem to do better when I don't know who is in the other lane.

260 is his MG #. I saw him and his dad in the pits but didn't talk to them. I didn't see the number he was running at Atco. For some strange reason I seem to do better with a "hitter" in the next lane. I guess I get more focused.
