Post '03 East Coast Nats Ideas?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

hey gang,
thanks for all the positive feedback, we really appreciate it.
now that this year is done we are starting to look forward to next year already. first thing is we are getting a real web site, this will eliminate pop-up ads and downtime from teh geocities location. we hope to have an operational page by teh end of this week or early next week. i will post up the new address as soon as it is available.
for the future we are looking for mroe ideas for classes and things to do.
what we already ahve in mind:
1. get a dyno again
2. true radial and drag radial brackets will return as classes(true radial had almost half fo the cars taht teched in it)
3. slick bracket will return
4. we will have some form of heads up racing, any suggestions on this one?????
5. we would liek to have the autocross that was planned before the schedule change caused a conflict.

what we are wondering about:
1. where are all teh car show guys?????
2. should we bring back teh V6 bracket?????
3. what otehr classes woudl you liek to see for the show???
4. what other racing classes shoudl we have????
5. what vendors woudl you guys like to see?????
6. shoudl i invest in a good spell check program to offset my horrible typing????
7. anyone know any clubs that we can contact to help raise more interest in the event????

let us know what you did and didn't like about the show. we are always open to suggestions and bribes
we will eb returning to e-town for the '03 edition, and hopefully on a weekend other than super chevy...lol

thanks
tim

Tim,definately a heads up class that would allow the soutside equipped 3rd gens a chance to race. Im all for heads up racing,i may not be the fastest, but it's fun. Also this is a LONG shot but i know PRO/PSCA and another organization do an "indexed" heads up race.....kinda like a bracket, but they have an additional .10 added so it's harder to breakout, and prevent sandbagging.
Contact the guys at EFA, might be able to get something with them as far as more cars....even though a lot are from VA,still might get some people willing to make the show.

Hooked On Phonics wouldnt be a bad idea either.

The main thing is not to have it on the same weekend as Super Chevy. That's the only reason I didn't make plans to attend. I think the same thing happened last year as well.
We can help spread the word through the SLFBA.
Oh, and that spell checker would be a good idea

Tim
If TR is too big maybe split it into TR1 and TR2[like they do at EFI shootout etc..] 13.5 and faster and 13.5 and slower?

Also I emailed you twice about some pics I have that I will send you?
You had asked for any pics?
Did you get those emails?

hey, Tim. it better back. otherwise i won't be able to defend the title. i'm sure i can get more 6'ers to come next time. there were schedule conflicts. they should be good to go next year.

how about "King of the Hill"? i think it would be cool to see class winners against each other.

Mtrhds94Z, i am definately interested in any pics you have. sorry i haven't gotten back to anyone who has sent me e-mails, more web problems thanks to the idiots at comcast. that is all beign corrected though. i will post an addy that i can be reached at tomorrow.
RacinLT1, i am thinking of making teh heads up class more of a general 10.5 tire class and let them go really fast. you know the kind of rules i am talking about, whatever engine, however much of one type of power adder, backhalved, basic road gear, and nhra safety.
PSU 98, good call...lol. actually we already started talking to teh track teh day they rescheduled us to that date. it WILL be on a much friendlier date next year, seperated from teh otehr local events by a few weeks hopefully.
OnixV6, got any ideas how to get teh peopel there? i knwo when this was discussed there was a huge interest level. it just didn't pan out, any idea why? i like teh class, we jsut need to figure out a way to get the car owners to notice it

thanks guys, keep those ideas coming.
teh biggest thing we are gonna be doing is to have a bigger promotional push. it was lined up this year, but then the date change sent a large portion of the plans spiraling out of control and most of it got lost. we will have a better track on it this time

I think you need to adjust the timing on your keyboard.. seems like the "e" and "o" is firing to soon against the right side of the keyboard...

With this events showing, the radial bracket was fine. but if next "everyone" shows up, a split of the radial class at 13.5 or something of the like is a good idea.

And the King of the Hill... I enjoy just seeing the finishing line, almost at the end of my 14.2 dail-in run, when all of the sudden I get blown to the side of the track by a 9 sec'er. hahaha It helps keep my ego in check. Yeah, if you could fit that in, that would be cool and fun to watch.

the idea of splitting the true and drag radial classes by et has come up a few times. do you guys think both need to be split? just true radial(True radial made up nearly half of the cars)?
it woudl be time and space dependant to get it done. but i will certainly look into it.
i will see what we can do about a king fo the hill, maybe i can talk the track into giving the winner adn runner up fromeach class a free pass for the evening session to see who has teh best overall bracket package. that could be fun, i cna see teh finals now, slick tire winner dialing 10.50 against V6 runner up dialing a 17.20.....lol
that sunds like fun to me, racign with huge time differences is really hard, sitting at the tree when you spot soemoen big is so hard, adn then getting run down so fast it is hard to judge if the faster car will pass or should you stay in it and hope he comes up short i like this idea, i am gonna work on it.

thanks

Tim, I must appologize.
I was supposed to be there racing.
The tranny is completely toasted that is why I could not race.
As of right now my car is at east coast supercharging. My tranny is out of the car. My converter should be shipped to yank.
The whole thing should be done sometime late next week.
Overdrive was gone
Drive was on its way out
2nd was a bit iffy
1st was fine.
I NEVER misss a v6 f body race and I was bumemd out due to the tranny
Please keep it.
Also racing the winners of each class would be awesome!!!!
v6 vs slick
17's vs 10's
Buwhahahahahahahaha
We shall see who has the last laugh then!!!!

I think you should have a class like the mustang class has. They line all the cars up. Escorted by police they drive the car 25 miles and come back to the track. At e town they bring them bad that return lane that comes all the way back to the stageing lights. They can not open the hood or trunk only the drivers door or they get DQed. They are not allowed to fill the tank either. Then they bracket race. Loser leaves that lane. If you win you get at the back of the pack. No help from partner, just the driver. This class would show who has a real street car and who doesn't. No icing down intakes or charging batteries. They have a big turnout at the mustang event for this class. I went and I thought it was real cool. Never seen nothing like that before. Should think about this one.

I really liked the way they use to run at the hotrod power fest. Heads-up bases on xx. of your practice, and if you went into a faster bracket you D.Q'd.

So all the 15 second cars ran the 15 second cars, 14s,13s 12s etc. all did the same. Run a fast as you can in the class without breaking into a faster class. Then you don't have to worry about street tire, DR or slick, engine size, power adder etc. Keep the open heads-up class. Hopefully the fast cars will be all back together next year, and I'll be able to make that feild too!

bad97ss, now that is an interesting idea, us chasing the cops instead of the other way around for once i was wondering about adding a cruise or tour of some sort to the event in the spirit of having "street" cars. i will put soem feelers out on the othe rboards and see what people think and see if we can fit it into the tiem table.
pampered-z, we thought about that last year, when i put it otu on a few boards a lot fo people just flat out said they wouldn't come. seems like teh idea of bracket racign is more popular than index type racing. i like index brackets, makes you rely on the tuning you did befor eyou got to the track a lot more and eliminates any margin you may have had if the weather changed. you really have to know your car to be competitive in a class liek that.

thansk gang, keep the ideas coming!
