ZZ4 block

What engines are built off of the zz4 block. The same friend that is hooking me up with the parts from holley just offered me some parts from his garage. He said that he has a zz4 block that has has been set up for a 383. He is offering it to me for 200.00 and that includes the stand. What do you guys think?

It's the same as most conventional SBC. Nothing from your LT1 will fit except heads and pan and intake and the heads would have to be modified to conventional cooling.

Re: ZZ4 block

Just a gen1 block I believe one piece rear, might be 4 bolt but that does not affect what it will fit.

Re: ZZ4 block

one piece rear, zz4's are 4 bolt mains, shortblocks have hyper or cast pistons (can't remember), pink rods and a forged crank IIRC

It's a good engine but it will take a LOT of work to get it hooked up in an LT1-- EFI,guages, cooling, ect. Physically it will bolt in but then all the changes. Personally if I was going to the trouble I would bolt in an LS1 or 2 or 6 or a 706CI BBC.

Re: ZZ4 block

I didn't mean it was usable as an LT1 block I should have been clearer. It is gen1 the LT1 is gen2.

The cams from those are a nice mild cam for an LT1 though requires a little modding of the snout but nothing severe.
