Desktop Dyno says the ZZ-409 with 1.6 RR, Long tubes and a good porting job will put down
Max Flywheel HP of 430@6000 rpm and
Max Flywheel torg of 417 @4500rpm
Pretty good....
Edit: The porting numbers I used where about what one could expect to get out of a set of stock LT1 heads when done by a professional (a professional that cares
)

282/287 advertised duration
212/226 duration @.050
.483/.520 lift w/1.5 rockers
112LSA
Don't know what the intake centerline is though.

For comparison, what kind of numbers does Desktop Dyno show for the same setup with the LT-4 Hotcam?

Damn, those are good numbers. Especially considering the fact that the ZZ-409 is not really any bigger than the CC305Originally posted by Xscream

Xscream, who did your heads and what kind of flow #s did you get? Was that on a zz409? Very impressive.

GetaZforgetGT - what does your program say when a hot cam is used???? (same exact settings)
i think off hand it 218/228 @ .050 duration .525/.525 lift and 112 lsa

Max Flywheel HP 432 @ 6000
Max Flywheel Torg 424 @ 4500
That's approx 357HP to the ground figuring a 17% lose due to drivetrain. (It varies depending on trans and other components)
Just so you guys don't get the wrong idea about these cams.
Here are the Head Flow numbers I'm using.
Int / Ext
0.200 .142 / .148
0.300 .202 / .162
0.400 .251 / .194
0.500 .276 / .205
0.600 .281 / .211
Those are really good numbers for stock LT1 heads.
A set of LT4 heads (some say they flow better than LT1) on that setup would max out at 390 FlyHP and 421 FlyTorq.
Remember you lose some through the drive train. (Lets say 17%)
So under ideal conditions and car setup you are going to get approx. 342 HP to the wheels.
That just goes to show you that a small cam with great head work is just as good as a large cam with stock heads. Most of the time its better (easier to drive and to pass emissions).

I got my heads from Bilmar Race Engines. Ed originally build the motor in my car before it decided to eat some bearings. I called his shop and talked to Rick (?) He had a set of used but just freshed up heads. I don't have the numbers here at work but I will post them when I get home. They were not anything to write home about though.Originally posted by mastrdrver

You got everything right except the duration, my cam card says 219\228 @ .050 duration .525/.525 lift on a 112 LSA..........................................close enough but just wanted to let you know what mine said.................... i think the hotcam revs a little higher than the zz9 but hey i would rather go with GM made cam than the aftermarket one...................just my .02 from experience. i think off hand it 218/228 @ .050 duration .525/.525 lift and 112 lsa
Chris
