ZR1 wheel & tire size? How Big?

I have the 17 x 9 ZR1 style wheels. I wanna get some Nitto's for the rear. What is the largest size tire I can mount to the 17 x 9 rim?
Thanks.

I would say 275s would be your best bet. Bigger would probably stretch the tires in ways that would not be good for handling, and possibly void any tire warranty as well.

ZR1's used 285's on there fronts, but they're 17.2x9.5" rims so that's probably why.

When I took off the stock 285 GSC's and mounted some 275 Eagle F1 GS tires in their place the handling was noticeably more precise and had little "sponge" feel left in it.

The 17x11" rears will fit 285's as well BTW. Much stiffer than stock, and feels real good on corners. The 315's that came on them were slick looking, but I think I'd be happier with 305's on my next set. Too bad Nitto doesn't make a 305... so I'll probably get 315's anyway. (There's no way I'm gonna try stretching a 275 on there, regardless of what the manufacturers say ).

I had 315s on my 17x9, the rears rubbed the inside of the wheel well though (I didn' put them on) Now I run 275 all around.

I got my zr1 last week 17x9.5, the largest tire recommended by the manf for 9.5 is a 285 series( i have run 285 on a 17x8!!!!, so 285 fit fine. I like them.

My friend had some 315 Nitto DR's on his 99 SS ZR1 style wheels. Shoulders bowed out a bit and rode ok with normal psi but when it was lowered at the track, it felt to squirrely. Everytime I'd shift it felt like the rear end was going to swing out.
