The little things like suspension, exhaust etc. to give it a little more power than a Z.....I always looked at it like if your going to buy it to leave it the way it is then get an SS...if your going to mod it then get a Z28....I mean the money you save from buying an SS you can make your Z faster than an SS. IMO

This is true and an excellent point...the difference in price if your modding isn't worth it...if you just want a sweet car that you wanna throw an exhaust on go with the SS.

A 96 SS could be had with an LT4 350 instead of an LT1.

Besides the LT4 option in 97, SLP also usually offered quite a few other options on the SS/Firehawks. You could get several different suspension packages, different LSD units, shifter, catbacks, etc.

The SS & Firehawk are really more of a complete package car that doesn't need (or need as much) modding like a stock Z28/Formula/TA. Plus they are a little more unique, which can make them more fun to own (especially the really rare ones, like the LT4s ).

Something like that, I heard that a dealer wrecked one.
And if you really want to get specific, there was also one prototype LT4 Firehawk, and two prototype LT4 WS6s.
