Re: z06 maf
The ZO6 MAF will max out the LT1s ability to read it LONG before the stock sensor. The MAF sends info to the pcm as a frequency signal. The LT1 pcm and sensors operate in a lower frequency range than the ZO6 sensor so around 350rwhp the pcm is no longer able to understand the ZO6 sensor even with programming it is just in the harware incapable of reading the signal anymore. If you truely are taxing the stock sensor it is either time to port it AND HAVE SERIOUS TUNING TO COMPENSATE or go speed density and ditch the MAF. If you go with something like the ZO6 sensor then everything past about 350rwhp will end up being tuned as speed density anyway since the pcm will not be able to recognize the signal the MAF is sending for that additional airflow.

On LS1 Speed's site they say the Z06 MAF is calibrated for the LT1. What are your thoughts on that?

Re: z06 maf
The aftermarket has convinced the newbies to modding that a aftermarket MAF is an integral part of modding and for some vehicles it can be useful, but with our increadibly easy to access pcms they offer little use. The ZO6 MAF then hits the market at a quarter the price of the Granatelli crap so everyone jumps on that bandwagon not understanding what is required of a MAF and how the pcm reads it. This is just crap designed to seperate beginner car nuts from their money, start talking to knowledgable guys with fast cars and the reputable tuners and the overwhelming majority will tell you to stay with the stock unmolested MAF. The stock sensor can read up to something like 471grams per second, the ZO6 sensor in an LT1 system is only recognized to something like 360gps. The stock sensor is not a restriction on a car mild enough to have been put together by a novice who believes MAF "upgrades" are a good thing.
As you read my comments and doubt me I made this mistake a few years back and even with proffessional tuning help could not get it to work right, even retried it later with calibration tables supplied by memebers here who were happily running the thing. When I swapped my stock sensor and appropriatye programming back in my milage went up because with the ZO6 sensor the pcm was constantly trying to pull fuel to compensate for what would have been a rich condition.
