Yet another SFC question...
Yet another SFC question...
I'm looking at getting a set of SFCs in the near future, and am unsure as to which I should go with. I like the added support of the double diamond design vs. the straight design, but my question is do I really need the DDs? My car is primarily a daily driver with the occasional track visit. I have yet to make a pass since the new motor, but expect to be in the mid 12 sec range on motor with a good possibility of a 150-175 shot in the future. I have never been to a road course or in an autocross event, and don't plan on getting into either anytime soon. Which SFCs would you guys recommend? Thanks.
I think the DD type are the best design because they involve the most mounting points. SLP and Spohn make DDs too. Still, any SFCs are better than none at all. The BMRs are nice because they have a lot of weld points at the rear since they surround the LCA mounts.
go for the BMR boxed ones.....theyre very strong and made a huge difference on my car -- they're only $159.99... www.bmrfabrication.com
IMO DD's are too heavy

Yes DD definitly can cut into your exhaust options. Torque arm options as well.
My big beef with DD is that they are uneccesary...IMHO
Heres my reasoning why. When you jack the car up by one corner is it seeing more torsion on the frame then it will ever see on the street. Compare a car before and after a 'weak' tubular sfc install. Its the same result as a DD install before and after, very little deflection. I'm not saying that the DD aren't stiffer, i have no doubt that they are, they are just overengineered IMO.

The last time I checked Double Diamonds subframe connectors put you in a higher class at an SCCA event.
Thats how much difference they make.
I have them on my car.
Having said that you don,t need them for a daily driver/weekend racer.
they are overkill, the only reason I put them on my car is at the time I had money to burn.
Get some BMRs and you will be fine.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I'm going to have to go with the regular design if I get them soon. A friend of mine is doing a LT1 to LS1 swap and I'll be getting his coated LTs and true duals. The duals will more than likely be temporary, but they'll be on the car until summer for sure. I am planning on having the SFCs before Christmas as long as money allows.
