do I have to disconect the stearing to get in my driver side hooker lt?

I'm pretty sure you have to. Its like a 2 second job so you might as well. Just take the two bolts out and pull the linkage off.

I don't have Hooker headers, but I can tell you removing that linkage helps with the installation of just about any header. It's easy to remove/reinstall as well. Not much to it.
