Question y-pipe catalytic converter question

Since I've got 2 cats on the y pipe, do I have to buy custom cats to replace my stock ones? or can I buy universal 3" inlet/outlet and get them installed with no problems?

I can't remember the size of the stock y-pipe off-hand, whether it is 2.5 or 2.75 inches, the 3" cats would work, but you would have to have build up the welds or use some reducers.
