Y-Pipe Bolts
Y-Pipe Bolts
Where the Y-pipe meets the manifold mine are very badly rusted out, and ive already snapped one off, ive sprayed them bastards with WD-40 for a while and still no luck ive used an air impact and still no luck how the hell do you get them ****ers out? And my friend says its no big deal i can drive around with no O2 sensors thats how his Z06 is with his LT's?

Aero Kroil. That and some good muscle. When a friend and I did the headers on his car we managed to get every y-pipe bolt safely off.. minus one. The bolt was rusted all the way through. We sprayed it w/ aero kroil as we backed the bolt out.. it squeeked so loud from being so badly rusted. It eventually snapped the stud. Either way.. we weren't going to be reusing any stock bolts.
I've never actually put a plug on here for aero kroil. It has to be one of the best penetrating lubricants ever. Any tough/rusted bolt is no match for aero kroil
. Aircraft quality mind you
.
It sells for ~$10 from www.kanolabs.com

I use PB Blaster. Usualy when I am getting ready to work on something with realy corroded bolts (like exhaust or suspension) I spray them once or twice a day the week before doing the work. A couple of years ago when I did headers and x-pipe on my '88 Cougar I sprayed the bolts every time a parked the car (when it was hot) for the week prior and they came out with little effort.
O2
You HAVE to run your pre-cat O2 sensors. They are an important part of how your computer runs your fuel/air mixture.
If I understand you correctly, you're saying you broke off one of the studs at the bottom of the y-pipe and can't get the remaining part of the stud out. I had the same issue. I had to drill out the remaining part of the stud, which left me a hole larger than the original stud. I then tapped the hole for a larger bolt and ran it down into the manifold. Viola! New stud. If you don't want to tap the hole, you can run a bolt through it and weld the bolt head to the manifold. It's kind of redneck, but it will work.
