XE Lobe Limits

May I use 1.9 rockers on my regular Xe lobe? 1.8? It has .495 lift with 1.5

1.9?? never heard of that on an LT1. might be some valve/piston clearance issues with that.

I have not heard of it either. My worries/hesitation/fear/paranoia.... are with hyd. rollers failing, cast cam breaking...... I need it to rev to 7200. My Wiesco -36ccc pistons have huge valve reliefs. My valves are stock diameter. springs are Crane 99893's . My guess would be to ditch the steel retainers and move up to titainium. Would switching from 1.875 installed height to 1.825 be right?

Re: XE Lobe Limits

why do you have to rev to 7200? if you have heads that are flowing that well, you'd be better off just getting a solid roller top end to keep up with them, and make sure you bottom end can handle rpm's that high.
i don't know of any hydraulic roller cams that pull to 7200.
i'm really interested in knowing why you have to spin that high?

7200 is the limit of my blower pulley combo. Bottom end can handle the rpm. 7200 seems to low of a rpm to see much gains with a solid roller.

Re: XE Lobe Limits

Why do you want to go with more rocker arm? There are no rocker arms to get that much ratio unless you do some shaft mounts. Then you could still have some stability issues.

Re: XE Lobe Limits

forced induction car....that makes a little more sence. either way, a cam that small can't keep up to that high RPM. like brett said, once you get into something over a 1.6 rocker, you start getting into more problems than the perspective gains are worth. your best bet would be to call comp cams up (1-800-999-0853) and tell them what you're looking for in a cam, and let them grind one out. you'll spend about the same amount on a new cam and intall than you would changing everything neccesary to compensate for that long of a rocker, not to mention you'll make more power with a purpose specific custom cam.

i was just browsing through the for sale section, and there are two blower cams for sale. one from cam motion looks like a really good cam, and judging from the specs, it'll most likely pull you close to what you're looking for on a 1.6 rocker

Re: XE Lobe Limits

Calling Comp will get you a "best fit" catalog cam. The same is true from many people who claim to offer "custom" cams. They spec the same lobe for a 3000 lb 6-speed car as they do for a 3400 lb auto with a tight converter. That's simply not "custom".

More lobe area is likely what you want but you need to talk to someone who can set you up with not just a cam... but the components to make it live. And yes, there are a number of hydraulics turning ~7k these days without all the tricks we used to resort to. Gotta love technology.

Crower Part numbers 73679-8 or 73696-16 I need new rockers anyway (valves are + .100) and thought I would have a little fun.

Re: XE Lobe Limits

Yeah you can get up to a 1.8 rocker with a stud mount..... the problem is you need the cam lobes to go with it.
