Which XE cam for my 383 ?

Help me decide......heads are stock cleaned and matched and I have shorty headers but do plan on LTs in a few months. I also plan to spray a 150 shot at the track. Compression will be between 10.5-11/1

I was thinking 230/236 ground on a 114 lsa. I like the lft numbers better on this cam as opposed to the 224/236-114. Right now I have a cc305 that was in my 350 but Im thinking that is too small for the 383 app. Ild like to see 420rwhp NA.

Any thoughts ....chime on in. TIA

Yes, but mainly to pull the powerband down just abit.....I dont plan on spinning it higher than 6200rpms....also to have alittle less choppy idle. Am I thinking right on this....lets here some more thoughts. Are my heads gonna flow enough to take advantage of this cam......255/180 @ .600

Ok I'm not exactly sure on this but when going from a 112 LSA to a 114 LSA wouldn't that bring your peak power up higher? I'm not sure why but I thought I read somewhere that a 112 LSA will peak about 250rpms lower than a 114LSA. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Or is it that with a lower LSA like 110 the powerband won't be as smooth (starts higher, but ends sooner) and the 114 would be broader (start sooner, but is more flat and takes more rpm to peak). Someone wana chime in?

*EDIT*
I forgot to give you my suggestion for a cam. If your going 383 and you want an XE grind maybe you should look into a custom ground 232/238 on 114 LSA . Or you could get your heads flowed and get the cam ground to those specs.

I suggest the 224/230 on 112 with higher compression

I went with the XE 230/236 112 on my stroker.

Absolutely love it!

But I'm not running juice.

I think you really need some camshaft for a 383. I am swapping cams myself and am going with either the GM 847 232/242 112 569/582 or CCXE 230-242 113 L/S 556/576 for my 355. It depends on what you are looking for but you definately want something in the 230-240 range to make some good HP. If I were doing a 383 for street/strip it would probably be around 236-246 duration. Anything with 220 duration will be a punk cam in a stroker. IMO Also 112 L/S will be fine to run with N20 and N/A. I know alot of people running 108L/s with n20 and it works great but it would work better with more L/s. You just have to think how much time your car will be on the bottle.
