WTF is that noise?

Ok,
Saturday, I tried to put an airfoil in, I removed the hose from the throttle body, found out the airfoil didn't fit, then put in back on. Today, I notice an EXTREMELY LOUD squeling, whining noise coming from the engine bay. And its on all the time, idle, acceleration, everything...I haven't put my hands in there yet cause I'm at work. Could I not have put the intake on right, or maybe a belt is going??

Sounds like you might have a leak in the intake piping... check all the connections. That would make more of a whistling or sucking sound (like a vacuum cleaner).

First of all why doesn't it fit? We might be able to help you there.

Secondly: By hose, do you mean the intake plenum that feeds the air into the TB? If yes, then you probably didn't put the plenum on all the way: you need to see if it is over the bottom of TB. Many have experienced not getting it on all the way, the result being engine not running right, noise, etc.

So take a look and feel. You can use a dull flatbladed screwdriver inserted though the top opening of the plenum to quide it around the bottom of the plenum before you tighten the clamp. Just a suggestion.

I have an Edelbrock TB, and the one I had only fits a stock TB. And yes, I meant the intake plenum, I wasn't sure what that was called. I'll check tonight when its cool. Thanks!!

Re: WTF is that noise?

BTW, if your foil doesn't seem to fit because the nut doesn't fit into the top hole under the TB plate, you just have to take some emery cloth and smooth it down until it fits. On the other hand, if the foil itself doesn't fit, that's another story.
