I recently downloaded DataMaster and tried to record a 1/4 mile run. When I try to configure the COM port I'm getting a error message saying my computer dosen't recognize the device plugged into the USB port and all the COM options available from the DataMaster drop down menu are greyed out. I am using the ALDL cable from my hand held scanner with a adapter from the 15 pin end to a USB plug. Is the cable with the adapter the issue or am I missing a piece of the puzzle here?

 

Kinda doubt the scanner cable is going to work. You generally have to use a cable made to adapt to a PC.

 

ok. Thanks for the info. Kinda figured as much, but was hopeful someone had a way to get there with what I have. I will get the correct cable and give it a whirl.
