You'll gain approximatly nothing with the Bypass, but you'll gain about 100hp worth of respect if you learn that cap lock button can be turned off, and that STREETS and RULES do not have a Z in them

I don't know a ton about the TB Bypass, but it should keep your coolant from heating up around the throttle body, which leads to lower temperatures and thus more horsepower.. But the gains are very small, so it won't be noticeable.

As far as headers, when I put them on my old V6, it ended up costing about 500-700 to install the headers, y-pipe, and cat-back.. I think most of that was for the headers, but they ran into a little bit of trouble. I'd say if your not experienced, don't try to tackle headers yourself.. You run the risk of breaking a bolt off in the block which would end up costing you more.. It's also easier the more room you can create, so a lift makes it a lot easier than jackstands or ramps.. But I'm sure a lot of people who have done it themselves might tell you otherwise.. It all depends on your experience and equipment.. But if you get them installed by a mechanic, you're lookin at probably 300-500 minimum is my guess.

And the same thing everyone else said about the caps lock - it's hard on the eyes..

Give the install a shot. If you get stuck in some places we are all here to help you out. Your not going to gain any experience on working with cars if you take it to a shop all the time. Plus the more you can do by yourself the more money you can save to spend on more mods.

ooooK, that looks like approxiamately nothing to me. Thats not the only place documenting gains either. No, its probably not going to be a SOTP difference, BUT considering its FREE I don't see why you wouldn't do it.

Newbie,
Welcome to the board. Please try the little letters, its easier on the eyes. You didn't decide what type of headers you want yet, but http://97ta.com/flp_header.shtml should give you a rough idea of what your getting into. Its not rocket science, but its not exactly a walk in the park either. Most shops would rape you on the install price because it is such a PITA.

You can find just about any basic info you want using the search feature. Sorry I don't kjnow the details of adapting the LS1 airbox. There are lots of good CAI available for the LT1 though.

You also already have a Voltage Gauge, and the A/F gauges are pretty much useless unless you've got it for decoration...

And hooking them up depends on what type of gauges you get, mechanical or Electrical.. Mechanical requires running tubing of some sorts through the firewall to the engine, the Electrical ones normally require some sort of wiring being run through the firewall, and both require tapping into your lights for illumination...

Spend a LOT of time using the search feature on the message board and you can learn almost anything about your car. If you don;t find it ask, but be open to answers, even if they're not what you want to hear... There are a Lot of newbies that come on here asking questions that don't really want to know the answers when they're told...

And good luck with your car... have fun, and be safe...

Wow, I dont seem to recall saying not to do it, please show me where I did. I answered his question. I have it done on my car, and guess what, no ET difference. Dyno numbers are for tuning, showing a 6 hp gain may mean it worked, or it may not. I know that 6 hp would give you something at the track, and I have yet to see anyone gain any. I dont know how many dynos you have been around, but I have been to enough to know that a car can get on a dyno with no changes and still dyno off a few hp. It's free, so no harm in doing it, but if you are expecting some big gain, you are kidding yourself.

hey newb just a couple board hints
3 (do a search) people love to say that,
and the LOCK CAPS and misspelled words tend to start flames, thats pretty fun in the lounge but not tech, its more adult behavior here

haha j/k dude have fun we are all here to HELP he

oh yea your questions, i like jet hot long tubes and definatly try yourself, but keep all parts bolts ect. in order so if you cant do it one of use my be able to help or the shop can figure out where everything goes. that is a professinal opinion becouse if i finish a job someone else starts and i need find stuff and figure out stuff, its like putting together a puzzle without the picture and i charge extra.
