Would it be possible

I was thinking about how to save money when putting in a CC306 (or a similar cam). I thought about buying the LT4 Hotcam kit and using everything but the cam and switching it out and then selling the LT4 hotcam. Would the component in there work with a CC306 or a similar cam? I am trying to be ready by the time for Gathering 9.

i'm not sure on the cost for hotcam kit parts but i dont think that it would be that much more to just buy the comp cams (or whoever) parts for your setup. you can get the valvetrain parts (minus lifters) between $400-500 and it might be a little better suited for your setup.

Do it once and be done with it until you throw in a stroker I know people who went with the hotcam and loved it, it was perfect for them, BUT then agian i know people who went with the hot cam and are kicking themselvs in the *** cus they didn't go bigger....ever consider a 230/236 112lsa? :-D It sounds pretty mean on the street.....as for the hot cam kit, i could be wrong but i think its $500, for the extra $200 or so i'd go with a cam of my choice and buy new lifters, springs, and timing chain. Personaly...i'd try out a custom cam from Bret Bauer or Joe Overton, they dont only deal with high hp motors, they also deal the guys who street their cars....

No, you will need better springs, locks and retainers for the 306.
