Question Would getting JUST a cam be worth it??

I was wondering if getting just a cam be worth it.....mods in the sig plus i am getting mac headers in the next couple of months. Also what would be the gains and how much would it cost to get it installed. Thanks.

Of course!
xxsaint69x is running 12.7@115 on stock heads with a cc306. Obviously, he has a few other bolt ons, but depending on the cam, you're still going to get a significant increase in power.

Sure you will have gains, but my question is why not just spend 400-600 and do the heads also.

The hotcam kit with tunning was good for about .5 and 5mph in the 1/4 mile...this is with the mods in sig. Car would be better with some heads/intake porting but I dont have the $$ for that now.

Well, it depends on if you have to pass emissions or not, and also how radical can you allow yourself to go.

Also, you can do the cam yourself. It's a lot of work, but it can be done.

I would recommend a cc305....
306 would yield more power but I'd stick with a 305 for a daily driver.

As far as which cam to go with it really depends how much money you have and what you want out of it. Is emisions an issue? How about mpg? Driveability? I went with the hotcam kit because I was low on funds and I think everyone agrees that its about the best bang for your buck when it comes to cams. You can pick up the cam, springs, and roller rockers in the "kit" for about $450. With tunning it drives almost as good as stock at low rpms, and you will still be able to get pretty good gas mileage out of it too. Overall I am happy with mine, but now Im looking to go bigger. I think thats pretty much the case with half the people that have gotten this cam though. For the install...go ahead and do it yourself. It will take some time, especially if its the first time you've ever done something like this, but theres plenty of help on this board. For what you would pay to have a shop install it, you could do it yourself and probably get a good set of ported heads too.
