I cannot believe someone would enjoy making "highway runs" as you call it. Racing at that speed on ANY street is foolish. It’s just more so if there is traffic. I don't want to rub it in, and you did the right thing by telling others about your mistakes to try to hopefully prevent another loss, or even worse a death. I see so many people, and its not just kids that have no respect for what they have. You have a 3,500 pound object, moving at a high rate of speed, when you get that fast, you are no longer in control, your aiming. I feel for your loss I really do, I just think its sad that it takes an accident at 110 MPH to make someone see that its foolish. I am not a saint on this by any means; I too have gone 127 on the highway once. The moment you have to steer you can feel how little control over the car you actually have. People need to understand that its not a toy and you can lose your life in an instant of stupidity. It’s just not worth it. In my opinion, if you want to run from a roll, do it from 30 or 20 or 10, don't go from 80, that is just plain dumb. From the sound of it, you are very lucky to be alive, but even worse would have been if someone else have died. There are plenty of people that have been racing and had someone else die and have been tried for manslaughter and even murder. Be careful out there, that’s all I ask.

I am not saying what I did was smart. That was the most irresponsable thing i have done, and they worst part was the whole time I was doing it I was telling myself to slow down. I lost control because I had to swerve to miss a van. I took my eyes off the road for a minute and when I looked back the van was right there. I am just happy that I was the only one who was in the accident and that i managed to miss the van.

As far as putting ATF in the oil dipstick, that was just retarded. That was the first time changing my ATF and I just didn't pay close enough attention to what I was doing, but it doesn' matter now anyways.

That must have taken forever if you poured 10 quarts through the oil dipstick tube! Everyone has done dumb things working on their car. Closest thing I can think of to that was when I poured in 5 quarts of oil after changing the oil only to realize I didn't put the drain plug back in

Really sorry to hear about you accident, things happen really fast at 120+ and it doesn't take much to lose control at those speeds. At least your ok, and that's what car insurance is for.

Glad to hear your okay dude. As every one else has stated, the car can be replaced - you can't.

I was very stupid about 5 years ago and raced a 93-ish Corvette down a 3-lane freeway around ~3am. The other driver paced me and tempted me multiple times before anxiety and adrenalin (sp?) finally pushed me into taking the offer.

Long story short, I kept my foot planted to the floor and focused on the road, my mirrors, and the other guy's car while we speed down the freeway. After a short period of time and a gear or two later I felt a studder on my accelerator and me, thinking something was wrong with my car, scanned the gauges and soon noticed that my speedo was near the 142mph mark!!! I about crapped my shorts and immediately let off the gas and slowed back down to the speed limit. I had no idea I was going that fast. I think my heart raced for about 10 minutes afterwards. I'm VERY lucky that that is all that happened. To this day I haven't been over 90mph except at the track. It's just too risky and there is sooo much to lose. You're never in full control, that's just an illusion.

Be safe guys!

Funny stuff about the tranny and oil
Hey people make mistakes

Well bout the wreck...
I had one a year ago on the highway.
I learned fast that my Camaro does not do good at high speeds with cheap bald tires =/
It was raining and i was doing about 78 down a 70 mph... i am not too bad of a speeder =) well i was in the slow lane with no traffic really and my buddies in thier truck behind me. Anyways i came up on to a semi and changed lanes. As i was changeing lanes the car hydro planed and began to swing back and forth on the rear end. I could not do anything to correct it. =O i began to go into a full spin down the highway. Luckly the semi driver noticed this and imedently slammed on his brakes. Needless to say i did not go under the semi instead i did about 3 spins and ended up head to head with the semi. I was sliding backwards about 50 mph. i was trying hard to keep it from spinning anymore >.< ... only thing i could say was **** this is gunna suck
As i looked at the headlights of the semi i noticed the bannered Teeth around the grill of the semi... i sort of laughed at the ironic situation... the semi still with his brakes locked up slid head first into my front end and sent me spinning toward a brigdes' cement wall. Lucky i fell about 50 ft short of the wall and slid into some weak trees.
Every1 was ok and i drove the car to Steak and shake with my friends following once again
Then called my insurance company... Dum Dum Dumm only 13 k dmg
i am not with state farm anymore ^ ^
Love the crash ratting on the camaros =))
airbags did not deploy THANK GOD

You are indeed lucky...hope some people do think twice before they run those kind of speeds on public roads.

yeah, it was stupid. But my new Firestone Firehawks were just screaming to be run. First time with Z rated tires and i wanted to use them lol. I got about 150 miles on them and now they just get to sit. Anyways, hopefully buy next summer I will have the car fixed. Buying it off the insurance company since the motor and tranny are still A1 with only 56kmiles on them. With insurance payin off the loan i can just replace the parts as the money comes. A nice SS hood wing and a yellow paint job are in the future, along with a much more powerful engine.....which will be saved for the track only

At the speed you crashed I guarantee you your Uni body is twisted to sh&^, I would just strip the car and find another Z, Even if you could fix it , It's not worth it.

Man I'm not gonna call you out on this, we all do stupid stuff. 160+ in a fox body w/ 3 1/2" runners on the front- flat a$$ stupid.... But hey, you live and learn right? Next time you will probably save it for an autocross. I'm glad your okay, I'm sure many of us have said "my god am I lucky on that one". Time to rebuild- might i suggest black SS stripes on the yellow paint job? It'll look awesome dude, stay positive !!
