wont start, help please
Whats up guys, well i've had this starting problem today, the car sat over night and i live right next to the whitestone bridge so its a bit colder then the rest of the area, so today morning i get in to start the car, put the key in and i felt the ignition and it felt like the grease inside it was kinda frozen ( knew it couldnt be good) well i then put the key in and tried to turn it on, well it gave me two faint cranks before it just decided not to crank over at all. After it stopped cranking i hooked up jump cables to my friends camaro and same thing, all dash lights come on , volt gauge sat right in the middle nothing when i turned the key, everytime i tried to crank i heard a click come from the passenger side kick panel and that was it, only dash lights and that kickpanel click but no crank after the faint cranks, i tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it but nothing, samething happens .....hoping someone has and idea, thanks and sorry for the long post
its been a little out of wack, bought a pulley set and didnt put on the alternator pulley, so the regular morning cranks would take a few seconds and would need a little gas to start, sux cause i changed the starter like 4 months ago.
If you didn't do the alternator pulley, you're under driving the alternator which doesn't help in charging your battery. How old is your battery? I only seem to get about 3 years life out of a battery. Side post batteries are the easiest to jump start as there's little to grab to get a good connection on the positive terminal of the battery; even the positive terminal on the fender (under red cap) is a small stud. You might just swap out the battery with a friend to prove it's the battery.
tried cleaning the terminals, recharging the battery, and giving it a jump still nothing. It acts as if the clutch isnt being depressed yet it is, but when i try cranking again with the clutch down, it'll make that click noise from the passenger side kick panel. I have no clue what the heck is going on, the security light comes on for like 5 secs along with the rest of the dash lights then turns off. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!
its ur starter man =/
its starting to die on ya...
sometimes the connections get corroded on the starter, check that it might either be getting low amps to crank the whole engine, or its totally not giving any power

How long did you charge the battery for? If you charged it for like half a hour and nothing then yeah the starters gone. Jumping it when the battery is runned flat doesn't usually work. It takes a lot of power for the starter to produce enough torque to turn the engine over. BTW I think starters are around 100 bucks and it's a really easy swap. I'm thinkin 30-40 minutes including getting the car up on ramps.
I havent charged for long, i had the cables hooked up to both cars for like 2 mins, maybe the batter is pretty dead, when i put the key in the ignition, the gauge reads a little higher then a quarter charge, isnt enough right? Might just have to pull my friends battery out of his car and put it in mine to see if anything happens, thanks!
My money is on the battery. It needs to be changed out if old. And be sure your connections are solid.
So get a new battery if it is time, becuase even if it turns out to be the starter, which I doubt, if the battery isn't up to snuf, you are not going to get enough power to start it.
BTW, driving around will not charge up a dead battery JMHO

damn, wasnt the battery either, took out the battery from my friends camaro and samething happens, dash lights come on, and all i get is a click from the passenger side kickpanel and nothing else happens, this really sux! wonder if the starter really didnt crap out
Battery didn't help
Then yeah it's probably the starter. That clicking sound is probably the soleniod in the starter. The soleniod its self is just fine but the starter motor is probably shot. I guess I'd replace the starter. As I said before it's about a 100 dollar part and should only take 30 -40 minutes to get the car up and sawp the parts.
