wiring LED for performance shift mod
wiring LED for performance shift mod
woohoo, i finally finished the performance shift mod thingy but to my disaapointment the shifts arent what i thought they would be. i mean you can tell the difference but its nothin to make a big fuss over. anyway how am i supposed to wire the LED light. on shoebox's link it says he wired his to the fuse box, but how do i do that. what wire will i need to splice, and how do i get to it. i tried to make it work by wiring it to the defrosters gray wire but that didnt work (i think thats a ground wire and i need a positive source). all who have done this mod and wired an LED where did you wire it to. (i.e. wire "H" on white connector in kick panel to what?)

shoebox what does the "H" wire on the white connector control anyway, it seems like that wire has nothing to do with the switch?

shoebox i wired the LED to the "H" on white and the orange from the cigarette lighter fired it up pressed the button and the LED didnt come on
. whats the problem, why is this giving me such a hard time
?
note: earlier after i got the wiring to the switch right, i wired the led to the same source as the switch (i.e. "A" on blue connector), and the LED came on (even before i pressed the switch...as soon as i started the car), but if i pressed and held the momentary button the LED would go off. so i know the LED works, i just cant seem to find a source that will cut it on when i press the button (line H on the white connector isnt working)

Saptio: a search should find you some info. Ask again if you do not find it.
Here is a diagram of what is being discussed.
the LED doesnt have any wiring coming out of it, it just has two flat metal prongs with holes in the middle, coming out of the bottom. i tried to make it work by splicing into the line from "H" going into the LED, and routing it to the neg. on the cigarette lighter, and on the other connector on the LED i had the wire going to the pos. of the c. lighter...still not working. i wired the LED back to the "A" wire on the blue connector just to make sure it still works and it did, so i am starting to think that the "H" wire on the white connector just doesnt work or somethin, is there any other wire i can use?

shoebox today i went up to radio shack and got a 12v LED with a built in resistor and wired it up, and it works. i turned the car on pressed the button, and the LED lit
. but how does this switch actually work. once you turn the switch on you cant turn it off until you turn the car back off, b/c when i press the switch and the LED lit i pressed the switch and the LED did not go off, but when i turned the car off the LED went out, how does this work/spposed to work?

Heh Hum.... since I am a kinda different kinda child.... I am Special I mean... I did not use the cig lighter nor the fuse box for the positive side of the power juice...
I GOT TO THE RADIO WIRING!!!! I figure if I make a mistake and do a shortcircuit I will know exactly what fuse I have fried and it will not be in any possible way related to the PCM.. Worst that can happen is the radio will loose power.
HaHa... thats what happens when I have too much time on my hands....
Oh by the way... I think you fryed your first led dude.. and yes the leds have a polarity... plus and minus.. they arent light bulbs they are Diodes.
Congrats on your new mod... everybit helps
Marvin
