Wiring harness question
Wiring harness question
I have a 94 Z/28 and the wiring harness is damaged. I also have a perfect 95 harness from a Z/28. I laid them on the ground together and looked them over and the 95 has one extra plug on it. Does anyone know if I can still use it? Maybe just not use the extra plug?

Off hand I believe it was up near the computer. I will verify that this weekend when I get back over there to start sanding the engine bay down. What was added in 95 that the 94 wouldnt have? Traction control maybe???

Here are the links to the photos of the harness. This is the only plug that isnt like my 94 harness. Anyone have any clue as to what it plugs into??????? This harness is from a 95.

Do you mean the one with the orangey looking seal, 8 cavity connector? You have that one on the 94, it may be located closer to the PCM (by the RH, bottom hood strut mount). On a 1995, the 10 cavity and 8 cavity connectors are sitting together on the RH shock tower.
Yes, my old harness does not have the orange plug on it. I have double verified it now. I have the green one, and yes it is on the right side inner rail by the ECM....but no orange one. I just dont want to get the whole thing back together and have it not work. Now I wish I would have taken a shot of the old harness for you
I did double verify this, this past weekend. My orginal harness has no orange plug, but the new harness I have does. Can anyone verify I can use it, and tell me what that darn orange plug is suspose to go to? Just curious.

Ok, so the connector is not on the 94. I think I may have found a reasonable answer. My car only has 2 wires in the 8 way connector.
"B" (pink) goes to injector fuse 10.
"E" (tan) goes to the DLC connector under the dash (serial data)-D30 to the PCM .
All the other wires are either for traction control items or for use with the 3.8 V6. Neither of these options were available in 1994, therefore there was no real need for the extra plug.
The wires that are in "B" and "E" must somehow get to the PCM another way in the 94 harness.
