Wires burning up after LTs installed?

Anyone had a problem w/ any spark plug wires burning up on the #5 cylinder after installing the LTs on your car? Mine burnt up, it sucks. I think I'm gonna have to buy a custom 8mm wire, and re reroute it around the outside of the headers and back under.

Anyone had this similar problem? I thoght I had insulated the wire enough, but apparantley not!

Just zip tied them to those black metal brackets along the block.

Burnt wires after LT install

Thunder Racing sells a kit for LT1's that completely solves this problem. I ordered the kit when I installed my LT's. The kit comes with Taylor 8mm wires, boots for the opti end, and two options for wire looms. I chose the looms that go on top of the vavle cover. Everything was easily installed and has a very clean look to it also. Plus, there's no chance of burning the plug wires.
The part number is WIREPKG.

Wonder Who Told You About That...

I know, I know Joe. My car would not be what it is today without all the help you've given me on it. Can't wait to dyno it and take it to the track. I'll be looking for a certain silver z

On 5 and 7 I routed the wires up top and over to the opti the same as OVC but without the OVC kit, I just zip tied the wires out of the way.
The rest of the wires are routed basically in stock locations with zip ties keeping them off the headers.

When I installed my headers a few months ago I angled them as best I could, taking time to make sure each one was not touching. One drive and one hit, and it just started stummbling.
Went to auto zone and bought the $35 wires , put it on and zip tied it , all is good.

Is #5 the third one on the drivers side? Thats the one that hit on mine.

Yep, 3rd on the driver side. Mine is touching as well. Didn't fire up the car yet, but I know I'll have to figure something out since it's touching the header directly right now and there isn't much room to zip tie it there...

Just get some heat sleeves. Standard Ignition and Taylor make awesome ones. They can sit on the headers with no problems. That way you dont have to spend the money on another set or an OVC kit.

Not saying your wrong, but I had the heat sleeves and they did absolutely Nothing! The headers burned the wires through the sleeves and the sleeves are still intact. Save your $50 from the sleeves and save $50 for the OVCs. I put em on and havent had a problem yet almost 4 months later....

MadWolf I zip tied about 5 inches from the boot right between the block and the stock wiring matal harness thing is. Wiggle the tie in there then zip it to the wire. It was hard, took two zip ties and 10 - 15 minutes. But its all good now.

I just replaced that wire and rerouted it down under the headers, no problems, has plenty of clearance.
