wire protection wrap
wire protection wrap
im bout to get ready to put all my exhaust n stuff back on after repairing some wiring and wrapped them with cool tape and was wondering if it even works. im just trying to route them away from the headers as good as possible and also wrapped the knock sensor and starter wire separately. does this stuff really work to keep down heat?

Re: wire protection wrap
If your looking to stop heat through conduction then probably not, but with it being aluminum and reflective it probably has some good convective and radiation reflective properties.......Its the same as people putting that aluminum foil stuff in there attic.....It does help, but I don't know how effective.....I would think that the headers would be harder on the rag joint than most electrical components....I'm sure someone else can tell you that's just my 2 cents.
Re: wire protection wrap
Chuckle...
Look, that stuff works just fine but keep the wires from touching the headers or any other hot spots. If they touch, they will burn as the fiberglas insulation isn't very thick.
You might also want to put some on the heater box to protect it from the headers as well.
