I used some clamps I have in my wood shop that have rubber pads on them. I clamped them to the window in front and at the back and it held great. It is a bit of a challenge to change the motor. Worst part though is that you can't put pop rivets back in because they are so large most of us don't have a gun that large. I used lock washers and short bolts but after a while it kept sliding so I had to keep re-tightening it. Eventually I took it to a place and they put rivets in it for me. Worked great ever since.

Are you using my guide? (it's on my Tech Page in sig)

Some people have used duck tape, table legs, c-clamps, tennis ball cans. Your imagination is the limit.

I got ya man. hahaha I had to do both my windows. well, to make things easier, if dont allready have one ur going to need a big rivit tool. were talking like a 1/4 inch rivit i think. I used wood stakes, the ones that are like 10 in long. they work the best, to hold the window up. the best tips are, before you unbolt anything, use a marker and "trace" the bolts, this way when everything is going back together, you will know where the bolts used to be,(most of them are adjustable). and when taking the whole motor assembly out, you can tilt the window to make things come out easier. oh and clamp the assemble when taking the old motor off. if not that spring will shoot that arm like no tomarrow. good luck !! its a PITA. I can do it in a hour now though.

Using my guide there are no big rivets to replace. No muss, no fuss. Easy, even for a beginner (many have emailed and told me so ).

thanks guys

shoebox your method looks the best to go but the thing is I read in my factory repair manual and it said to pull the whole regulator to get the motor out so I already drilled out the regulator rivots(the bigger ones)

do I have to replace those with rivots or can I replace them with something else

thanks
Josh

Geez, too bad you did that. Rivets are the best for those big ones, like was said earlier-bolts tend to loosen. Maybe loc-tited bolts would hold?

I got mine off of ebay but its actually a better deal going to napa or autozone.

I used shoebox's directions which were really simple. Mine came with little bolts and they havent come out yet and that was a couple months ago.

LOL.....changed my pass side last weekend. i held glass while my son took the motor out. I actually had to PUSH the window to get it to go down. really stiff...
wrong stuff...but happened to have some dielectric grease handy, put some on the channels or whatever....works much smoother, but would still stay up on its own with motor out...LoL

STAY AWAY FROM AUTOZONE WINDOW MOTORS!!!!!!!!

They are so loud and I have had 4 of them burn out in a month on 4 different camaros. I will never buy another Autozone part again.
