Question Will this be too loud for everyday driving?

Ok guys, forgive me for I am a newbie . Here's my situation. I'm swapping an LT1 out of a 93 vette into my s10. I have sanderson headers (special made for v8 swaps into s10's) and plan to run true duals dumped before the axel. I'm looking at 2.5in pipe through high flow cats and dynomax bullets (16in long..i think). I want it loud but not too extreme. Is this setup gonna drive me crazy being too loud?

Thanks!
Chris

the bullet doesnt do much to quiet you car, it changes the tone and sounds good imo. but i took mine off due to the interior being rattled apart.

by the way, i dont know if you had ever seen a bullet but you can stick your arm through it, all it has is some little holes around the pipe.

they are like resanators :P

it'll sound pretty mean, and loud, (loud enough to get the alarms to turn on) if u get cats, it'll quiet it down a lil tho

Exhaust to loud...

It shouldn't be too loud. There are a couple of LT1's and LS1's around town that have the same type setup and they sound pretty good.
If you want loud, you could try to get away with the type of exhaust I have. It's long tubes with 3.5" one-chamber flowmasters dumped about 1.5ft after the headers. The local police and highway patrol don't seem to have a problem with it, but I have been told by the local sheriff to quiet it down. It sounds really good to me so I will see how long I can get away with it

I don't think it will be too loud, but it depends on what you think is loud. I have SLP headers with custom Y-pipe straight into my Flowmaster catback with no catz. I think its too loud at times but like it anyway.

Hey snakecharmr........what the hell does shaved door handles and spoiler mean???

Thumbs up great feedback!!!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I'm not gettting the impression that it'll drive me insane (which is what I was hoping for). I guess I'll order everything tonight... I have one more question. What size cat do ya'll recommend? I'm having "AIR" deleted out of my computer so I'll be getting a 2-way converter. Should I go with a 13.5" or 18" long converter?

I'm pretty sure that snakecharmr means he's removed his door handles (replacing them with sheet metal, smoothing, and painting) and adding door poppers (selanoids that pop the doors open by remote). Not sure about teh spoiler, maybe he removed it and filled the holes???

Thanks!

Shaved door handles and spoiler...

LT1s10ss is correct. My TA has no door handles, it it just a smooth skin with no handle or key hole. The poppers I had weren't strong enough to open the door completely so luckily I can roll the windows down with my alarm remote( kinda sucks when its cold outside ). By shaved rear spoiler I mean just that. There are only four little holes on the deck lid that the spoiler is bolted through. The spoiler was removed and the holes filled. The car looks very different, half the people that see it love it and the other have hate it. I like it though, and I have never seen another one like. I have some pics of it but I don't know how to post them. I can send them to someone that does though via email if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Hope that cleared things up a bit

I'd wager that the cat will quiet the car down a BIT. I may be called a pansy, but the bullets were WAY too loud for me. The good thing about them, no drone. They don't have that flowmaster amplification if you know what I mean. Its just REALLY loud. I'd relate it to a nascar, as the closest I can think of, at WOT or reving it up. Cruise is nice, but a normal voice level conversation isn't possible, or at least wasn't in my car. The sound is AWESOME tho, if you're in the mood for it. I got 2 Borla XS mufflers. Alot nicer IMHO. Quieter than stock, but sounds a BILLION times better. No more brap sound on decel. It doesn't sound like a Z71 anymore.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead... I'm officially to the point where I absolutely have to order my muffler(s) in order to have them in time.

I need some opinions before I do. Again, I'm running shorty style headers into 2.5in pipe. 2 hi-flow cats and true duals. I'm still looking at the bullets but the dynomax welded ultra-flos have caught my eye too. I know they're a straight through design so I can kinda expect what they'll sound like. Here's my question, dynomax makes one of the welded ultra flows dual in/ dual out for 2.5in pipe. If I pick this one, will I still need to run the exhaust with an H or X pipe or does the muffler do the same with the exhaust? Also, is there a big difference between the two in how loud they are (bullet/welded ultraflo)?

Thanks again!
Chris

I dont even have mufflers and my cars sounds fine. I did keep the cats though

You'll be pleased with what you have. LT1's dont really make that much "noise" compared to other motors. They just sound deep.

Depends on the cops around your town.
I have Hooker LTs with purple hornies exiting just behind the front seat with turndowns and I don,t think its too bad just cruising or idleing, WOT is a different story though but so far no tickets.
