Will it run? 94 Z sitting
Well you know the old saying you dont have the time but you have the money. Or you have the time but not the money. Well I have found a happy medium and have to ask the question before I start.
I have a 94 Z with 101K on the clock. I put it up on jack stands to start the project of giving it a refresh. And again you know how that goes. Days turn to weeks turn to months.
Well almost two years later it still sits.
I have not turned it over since I parked it there.
I just looked the car over visually last weekend. Bodywise its in great shape no rot or rust. For one of those years it was covered but the next year it got ripped apart in a blizzard.
Internals:
I popped the hood and checked the oil. Nothing wrong there. Looks normal. Had no discoloration or water in it. Popped the valve cover cap off and looked internally and again nothing looked out of sorts. No water or anything.
Next I checked the trans fluid and that was also okay.
Then went and pulled the radiator cap off. That too was bright green and no rust or brown at all no gunk build up.
The intake and everything look sound and not cracked. I did notice that some mice or something made a small nest in one corner of the engine bay tucked up in the firewall area on the drivers side. All the hoses and fittings looked sound and not dry rotted.
The gas in the tank? I have no idea..I know its junk. even fuel stabilizer does not last that long.
Now with all that said and its a longshot I know. And like asking a blind man hows the weather outside.
What am I looking at if I put a new battery in it drain and fill the gas tank with new fuel. Change the oil and radiator fluid. and best way to prime a LT1 for start up. along with anything else I am missing??
Possibly it could start..but....
Am I wasting my time? Or could a LT1 sit for 2 years and still be servicable and actually run again? Or do the seals and gaskets on them go in the long run.
Just trying to find my best course of action to finally get my project started!

drain the fuel, put fresh gas in with a bottle of seafoam, change the oil, install new battery and give it a shot you really have nothing to lose
as long as the little mice bastards didn't chew through anything of great inportance there is no reason it shouldn't start right up
dont worry about gaskets, hell most of them are rubber anyway
grease up the zerks on the front end
after you get some miles on it replace the fuel filter and run it like you would normally

Thanks guys! I wasn't expecting anything positive.
She is getting a new engine as part of the plan but there is a few other things I want to get done also, suspention and brakes. And figured the engine would be the thing that take the longest to finish and some time for me to shop around and find what I am looking for.
So thats my next question since I have hope.
What am I looking at as far as fail/seized parts on the suspention, brakes area? they are shot I know, and want this stuff to be replaced and upgraded first. But anything I have to look at to see if it will move? Should I hit everything with a brake cleaner and or lubricant? Front end? Power stearing and so on?
Again thanks guys! When the weather breaks and I do get a nice 60 deg. weather weekend I will see what happens.
Just one last thing. Before I do any of the recomended things to get it ready to start. I was thinking of just putting a battery in and giving it power to see if everything lights up and then giving it a quick crank for a half of a second to just know that there is juice going to the starter. Any objection to this?
