will pacesetter Ypipe work with stock cat back?
My pacesetter LT's and ORY are going on this weekend and i want to keep the noise down. i couldnt afford a cat-back at the moment so i was wondering, can the stock I-pipe be cut and welded onto the end of the pacesetter Y-pipe? i did a quick search but couldnt find exactly what i was looking for.

with a little fabrication you can get it to fit, i suggest finding a shop to make you a custom one, but if cash is an issue do what needs to be done.

It's hard to find a reducer that goes from 3" to 2-3/4" , but I used a coupler that was 3" OD to 3" ID. The 3" OD side of the pipe had an ID of about 2-7/8", so it was pretty close. I double clamped it very tight and used a lot of that muffler sealing goop, and it didn't leak. If welded it wouldn't leak, but would restrict your headers and ORY. I put a 3" catback on a month later and had a feeling of closure then
That might work for you temporarily, but it probably would be best to have a shop fab something up for you if your going to leave it like that for too long.

I just did the same thing, of course there is no "cat" in the cat back, my stock pipe was cut to fit about an inch or so into the Y and welded, it works great, I'm not positive, meaning I did not measure the diameter of the stock on my 93 but it seems almost like 2-5/8 or larger?? there was not much space between the two. Also I just bought the band clamps from summit that work great for the three other joints instead of the ones that come in the set up, the lap joint clamp is what I would use if I were you. pn# WLK-33272 http://store.summitracing.com/
