I haven't been this distraught since I found out santa wasn't real... but here's an old thread on the issue

Yup cool so it does work, because thats what I thought too, lt4 intake can't go on lt1 heads because of the LIP by the valve cover area, but an LT1 intake works on LT4 heads, but if you want full potential from a setup and you raise the roof of the ports on the LT4 heads, than you don't ahve enough material to play with ontop with the LT1 intake but otherwise its a direct fit.

I believe there is an "angle" difference between LT4 and LT1 intake manifolds.

'You put L98 heads on an LT1, or am I reading something wrong?'

No you are not reading something wrong. You are reading directly from my packing list on the NEW AFR 195cc LT street heads. These heads are not GM LT4s but AFR's LT heads. This thread is about AFR heads fitting an LT1 manifold and they do.

I think the issue that peolpe are concerned about is the taller port that LT4 heads have. I think you would have a bigger problem putting an LT4 intake on LT1 heads than vise versa.

If you scroll down to the A and B head intake runner cross section photos, it should enlighten your mind on what some differences are and how things may or may not fit.

Hi shoebox,
I looked at the the link you provided and is very informative. I am sure that if you had a cross section of the afr heads you would also see some big differances between them and the LT4. such as the much larger valves and the way bigger exhaust ports re designed combustion chambers ect. I think some guys are thinking the afr 195's are a lt4 head only and I'm sure afr did their homework.

It was meant more to diffuse the LT4 tangent discussion going on. A cross section view of the AFR would be good to have, too.

AFR specifies that the LT4 intake manifold be used on thier LT4 heads. If for some reason the LT1 intake fits, I still wouldn't use it on an LT4 head, if the manufacturer specifies the use of an LT4 head.

The people who take the time to understand the hows and whys of things will always go further for less money than those who refuse to understand anything.

If you read through this thread you should understand things, unless of course you continue to refuse to learn as you have sofar.

I'm not refusing to learn. It's just that the LT4 intake and Lt1 intake are different. I only know so because these are the componnets I used. You may be able to cut corners, but is it worth it? I would like to seriously know how the ports line up when the LT1 intake is installed on the 195 LT4 Afr heads. Because the Lt4 intake doesn't even line up perfectly.

Like I said earlier in this thread, the ports on the LT1 and LT4 intake manifold are the exact same size in the exact same position. Also the edelbrock LT1 and LT4 intake manifolds are the exact same part, they have the same casting #.
