Will I be able to beat my friends 96 cobra now?

My car is a 97RS vert, and is in the shop now having a 97 LT1 w/auto and everything else associated with the swap. In the process I'm having Jet Hot LT headers put on, to go with my borla I already have. I bought some GM 3:73 and waiting for them to come in now, and have a K&N cai to go with it also. With these mods alone, would I be able to beat my friends 96 cobra vert? I also have a stb, and sfc's. I'm looking into maybe getting a vigilante high stall TC. Do I really need one of these, or is it well worth the money? Would I be able to beat him without one? My mechanic said I should get one, and now's the time to do so while everything is still out. Any info or insight would be appreciated.

they put about 260 to the wheels so i wouldnt feel too confident about it, stock you may put up a fight, but if he has any mods, youll probably see cobra lights, the DOHC in those things shines up top

Wait a second.. so your going to have an LT1 in there... with intake, full exhaust, and geared. you whould be around 13.5 easy. You put a big stall in, your 13.0 traction provided.... i think you'll do just fine.

my set up without the NX kit runs 13.6 on old street tires.... i believe they go 13.8/9

Great, thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, his car is a convertible too. And the only mod he has is a catback, I think Mac. I'm still unsure about the TC though. Should I get one? I mean, they are alot of money for a Vigilante, but my machanic is right, now is the time to do it if I want it. Are they that impressive or worth it for the money? I've put out alot of money already, and believe me, funds are limited, lol That's why I figured I'd save on the labor price for the TC if I do it now. And to be honest, I never even drove an lt1 or ls1 car, let alone even in one, so just the new motor to me should be extremely impressive comming from a 3.8. But like anything else, I would want more later on down the road. It's just the price of the TC that makes me wonder if it's worth it or not. Will it make my car that much more impressive. You guys understand. Thanks again.

it can reduce times up to .5 realistically
a worthwhile mod if you don't have to go in debt to pay for it

You don't have anything to worry about, just don't leave second...you should, with a stall, and the other mods, be into deep 13's

Well "LT1 squirrell" said 260 at the WHEELS for the COBRA. Because nobody gives a **** what cars make at the "flywheel" and on an A4 its a flexplate, not a flywheel. . ANYWHO, yeah i think you will be able to take him. Let us know after the race, post it in "Track Kill Stories"
