Will headers really help that much?

I was thinking about getting a set of MAC's for my car in the spring. I have heard of mac's taking off 4 tenths? Seems a little high. I run 13.25 now w/o headers, full weight and a system in the back, no skinnies. Think I can bust off a 12.8 w/ headers? Oh yah I now have a vig2800 converter instead of the midwest2400 I had before

longtube headers give you about 25-30rwhp on a bolt on car
shorty headers give you about 10-15rwhp on a bolt on car

Yes. Headers are one of the best first mods. My favorite mod so far.

How about ground clearance?? I'm sitting about 25.75" in the front right now and ground clearance is an issue.

People, there's not just LT's and shorties. There's a plethora of Mid Length headers out there. ASM, SLP, MAC, Edlebrock all come to mind.

There was also a recent post validating that the Mid Length actually put out very similar to the gains of long tubes, with the added benefits of being emissions legal and MUCH better ground clearance.

I've seen tests that say the MAC's are awsome, they are extremely cheap with an "OK" high-temp coating from the factory, with an insane fit and come with y pipe as well, they are a great deal, prob 6-8 less hp then long tubes, but half the price iof you account for y-pipe and come with a coating as well, all though its not as good as ceramic, is still "OK". Prob best midlegths for HP gains and overall.

I'm at the same height with my ESP car. I'm thinking of going with Mac mid lengths. Either that or Jet-Hot LT's because they tuck up better than Hooker LT's. It appears (on an LT1 hooker car I looked at) that the y-pipe is the biggest scrape issue.

I am sorry but I have to play devils advocate. I bought a set of FLP long tubes and put them on my mostly stock 71k mile Formula and gained a whole 8rwhp. ..........................I hate my car.

I'd hate to spend the amount of money it takes to buy and install headers to only get 8hp.....
