I am in the same boat. From what ive read its due to my LS1s Catalytic OverTemp Protection, with feeds cats with fuel to keep them from overheating. When cats are deleted and it runs rich its just dumping fuel. I dont know if the LT1 PCM has COT Protection maybe someone else does. But I doubt it would dump that much fuel.
