Will Brand Name LT Headers Make More Power Than Cheap Ones?

Will brand name long tube headers make more power than cheap ones? In other words, would Hooker long-tubes make more power at the wheels than Pacesetters? If the more expensive brands only make like 5 more rwhp, then I don't know if I'd be willing to pay almost twice as much for them.

This thread can be deleted as I don't think it belongs here. I reposted it in General F-Body Tech.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having this post in here. To answer your question, brand means nothing. Build quality is the important factor, and what kind of header design you are looking for.

I've heard great things about the pacesetters, and the hookers, by the way.

you cant go wrong with hooker headers, and get them ceramic coated, you'll thank yourself later

I'm asking if there is any difference in power between cheap LT headers and expensive LT headers.

If you wrap your headers in ben franklins does it make them better?

Kay then.

Given similar design, two headers will produce similar power. Pacesetters and hooker/jethot are all darn near identical, and will produce similar power. The only header that may be different are the stepped 1 7/8 kooks headers... only time will tell.

Re: Will Brand Name LT Headers Make More Power Than Cheap Ones?

Most people I've spoken to said that they've never noticed much of a difference in power between longtube manufacturers...mostly, the difference is in fitment and quality. Seems like Jet hot's are the best and hooker and pacesetter are tied in second.

Personally, I think any coated longtube is better than my hooker shorties...pieces of crap!

Pacesetter is a brand so then they would be brand name. "Cheap" denotes quality so be carefull how you use it. Pacesetter has not been around as long as Hooker, but is gaining ground and are a great header as far as fittment, finish and HP. I have Pacesetters and they were fairly easy to install and the Y-Pipe with them fit awesome. Just because you have not heard of them does not mean they are cheap!!! K

If you know the size and length for your setup then it doesn't matter who makes them. The more you pay the better the quality(usually) and fit.

I had ceremic hookers. Nice fit, crappy ceremic coating that rusted.

I now have Pacesetter LT. Much thicker, nice fit, better plug/ground clearence, and i nickle coated them so no rust, whereas my hookers rusted VERY quickly. 1/2 the price, much better header

hookers are "inexpensive" and I was just reccomending them. as they perform as well as a more expensive brand.

and of course im talking about FLP or something. I dont know much about pacesetter because ive never used those, so I cant help you there, but it seems a few people in this thread endorse them. id say get a few more opinions, and go with your gut.

No, but the fact that they COST FAR LESS does.
