both of the remotes for my car are on their way out, I've seen a lot of pontial key fobs on ebay for cheap, but will any pontiac work? or does it have to be a Firebird one? or will any GM remote work?

our old Bonnaville remote worked on our suburban too, lol.

 

i believe the fcc number on the back has to be the same. i just replaced my one fob and thats the only number that matched the original ones. Trey

 

My original remotes were also badly worn and not working very well. The soft rubber/plastic thing with the buttons on it seems to be the wear item that looks bad and causes poor performance. I have taken my original remotes apart and cleaned them many times but the black carbon looking stuff on the back of the buttons has finally wore down too much. I got a similar looking but different part number remote from a junkyard. I moved the circuit board from my original remote into the junkyard remote case. Now I have a like new looking and working remote without the need to reprogram or match part numbers.
