Will 18's make me slower?

Going to 17's in the front and 18's in the back. Will this hurt me?

when i went from aluminum 17x9.5 budniks to chrome 18x9.5 y2k vette rims it was a bit more sluggish off the line. but i really liked the look of the 18s. now im ready to go faster again

The problem is not with the actual 18" wheels. It's when you put the real low profile tires on there that you have a problem. Find a tire with enough side wall and you should be fine.

Keep in mind they are heavier too. That'll slow you down a little as well.

You would have to find out how much more they weigh over stock. Each pound you add to your tires adds 5 lbs of rotational mass, so, if they weigh 5 lbs more per tire, thats 50 lbs of rotational mass right there

You are all set with your tires, no need to get the speedo reprogrammed. But for the guy going huge in the back, going to be a little slower, and need to reprogram the speedo for them.

Call me crazy but I could "feel" the difference when I went from 16" salad shooters to 17x10 O.Z. Racing....the wheels are a decent bit heavier....but there is also alot more rubber that adds to the weight difference.
