Wierd starting problem. Any ideas?

My girlfriend was driving my 95 camaro last friday. It started pouring rain like it usually does in Florida every afternoon. Anyway she drove through a huge puddle and while she was driving through it, the car died and wouldn't start back up. She pushed it out of the puddle and waited about 5 minutes and tried to start it again and it started right up. Then on saturday, she was driving it to work, and it died down the road from my place. I drove over there and tried to get it started, and it wouldn't start. It would crank over and run for a second and rev up like it normally does when first started, then immediately die out. It did this every time I tried to start it. It wouldn't do anything at all if I tried to give it gas. The only mod done to it is a CAI but I don't think it sucked up water cause it wouldn't fire up for a second like it did. I ended up leaving the car in the beating hot sun in a parking lot for the rest of the day while I waited for my friend to come tow it. We went back to the car that night and got ready to tow it and I tried to start it up one more time and it started right up with no hesitation and has been running fine since then. My guess is something got wet and dried out from sitting in the heat all day. Any ideas on what could have caused it not to start? I'm worried that this thing will end up dying out again next time it is driven in the rain.

That would suck. I just replaced it about 400 miles ago with a new accel opti. Hopefully that water screw it up too bad.
