Wierd Low Oil light.

Well last night i replaced my PCV valve and had the throttle body off to clean it up a bit. I took off all the PCV related hoses and cleaned them.

Well today at outback i start my car up and the low oil light comes on. I emediately shut the car off and pop the hood to check the oil. Its a little low but still on the dipstick, like the lowest marker. I walk over to wal-mart and buy 2 quarts of Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5w-30. I pour about 1/2 a quart in and check it. Looks good. So i go off to work.

My car doesnt leak and it doesnt burn any oil at all.

Well im about to leave work and i start the car and the light comes on again so i move the car over into the light, shut it off and check the oil. It looks good so i go over to where i was parked and look for any oil spots on the ground. None, so im thinking its a fualty low oil sensor, because when i started it back up to go home it didnt come on.

Anybody have any input on this. Where can i get a low oil sensor, how much is it and how hard is it to replace.

If you dont care about the idiot light, you can cut the wires going to the sensor and twist them together. The light will go out and you will never have to worry about it again.

Well id like to have it function just in case. But its not leaking from the sensor. Do these things just go bad over time.

Yes, they go bad over time. There is a small float on the end of the sensor and it falls apart causing your problem.
