Angry Why will my clutch fork not stay put!

I already have a running thread on here about my clutch problems, but I've had the actuator off about 6-7 times now and the fork keeps falling down low and jamming against the spacer. Whats am I doing wrong?

As far as putting it on, im angling it so the bottom part of the fork is leaning towards the rear of the car, then I slide it up untill I feel the resistance, then it jumps about another 1in. to 1.5in. Feels solids so I then push the bottom part of the fork forward so its sitting right at the edge of the spacer. Does that sound right?

Also, i dont know the name of it but the piece that the fork grabs onto, is shaped differently than the one that was on the stock clutch. On the stock cluth the piece was completely circular, but on the Spec clutch, the piece has four flat sides and 4 rounded corners. It seems like the fork grabs it fine but it won't stay put and keeps falling down. Do I need to pull the tranny again?

take a good look at the fork and make sure the two spring clips on the visible side of the fork arent broken or mangled. one of mine snapped and it would fall every time i got it installed and pressed the clutch again.

Thanks I'll take a look! Also, is it normal for this piece to be shaped differently then the stock? The part number on the box that Spec sent was SC422, at least I believe that would be the part number. THat should be the stage II spec correct?

i dont know as far as the part number - i'm running the SPEC stage 3 clutch disc with the LT4 PP. but i've seen pics of the part you're referring to (the throwout bearing) and that design is correct. check for a thread i started asking for pics of the clutch release fork to get an idea of how it's supposed to look (sans rust). if you need a new one, they're ~$45 new.

Well I dropped the tranny again to try to see what was going on, and I found out the problem was that the fork was never sliding completely on the throwout bearing. After puting it all back together I used a screwdriver and pryed against the spacer untill it popped on. It feels great now, thanks for all the help everyone!!
