Also i have a friend thats got a prob with his air pump so he just took the resistor out of the box so it doesn't work, and his temp stays low also.

You said AIR, not the EGR. Deleting the EGR can lower underhood temperatures, yes.
AIR and EGR are two different things.
And the AIR pump only runs on cold startup and certain low-rpm/load conditions. Once the car warms up, there is no need for it. It will have nothing to do with coolant or engine temperature.

Thanks for the clear up. Friend kept saying it was the AIR, anyway...
So why does the EGR have so much of an effect on the temp?

I thought the EGR was supposed to lower combustion temperatures (besides from helping emmisions)... With less combustable-gasses in the cylinder, the combustion would would produce less heat. Am I missing something here? Unless it's the rerouting of the exhaust that causes the ambient temperature under the hood to rise??

well, the AIR pump being removed would throw a SES light, would that code keep you from passing emissions?

The pipes shown in the pics are the AIR system pipes (1993 specific) and not the EGR. A mention of the EGR and a block-off plate are shown, but the author of that page has some confusion about what is what. Probably why so many other people are confused about the two systems as well.There is no real reason anything to do with the AIR pump would have anything to do with engine temps. The pump is only on for a few minutes on cold startup and then goes off.
OTOH, EGR functions actually lower combustion temps, so I don't know where this "coolness" is coming from, other than the surface heat from those pipes, due to the check valve location.

The coolness is probably from when you remove the air or egr you can get a code. This will make your fans run all the time when the car is on, thus cooling the car down.
