No kidding buddy. Where is the leak at? I'm willing to bet that one of your hoses is just bad. The stock clips suck. Of course that is providing that you cleaned off the block of all gasket material first and put RTV on the gaskets.

Did you let it dry before you ran the engine?

cleaned off the old gasket and used RTV ...let it dry overnight....
I hope it is a hose ...i'm not sure where the leak is coming from but it seemed like a lot of coolant was everywhere ..some pooled near one of the bolts. Did i miss a seal or something, only thing i added was the two WP gaskets.

this is my first attempt so i might hav missed something obvious.
thanks guys

would it leak thru the gaskets, thru the RTV if the bolts were cranked tight?

Did you remember to put back the seal on that thermostat housing? It would leak if you did not.

People these days are using FAR too much RTV. It sounds like you did as well.

Gasket technology has come a long way. There are only a few parts of the LT1 that need RTV AND a gasket. Thats two spots on the intake, two spots on the oil pan, and the bottom of the timing cover.

Take that mess of RTV off and clean the block and back of the water pump VERY well. Replace with two new gaskets. Put it on DRY.

There is one waterpump bolt that goes through a waterjacket (I believe it is the bottom most bolt on the driver's side). Did you seal this with teflon tape?

This was the first thing that came to my mind.

Yeah one of thbolts should have threadsealer on them. I did all of my bolts because i wasnt sure wcich one went into the water jacket, but that might cause a leak. Shouldnt be a huge leak though.

was it leaking like this before you changed the waterpump?

ok ...no it wasnt leaking like this before . I also didnt use teflon tape , so that might be a problem. I looked today and it looked like the front plate that bolts on and covers the internal fan thingie was leaking .you can see it in this pic. The grooved piece.

The round plate that is held on by 5 or six little bolts. Should I use some RTV and seal that closed? tighten them further? What you guys think?

thanks as always
