Why no lope?

I have been building my car for a while now. I have so much stuff done to it. In a nut shell it has the 2050 compucam in it. I don't really know the differance between that and like the hotcam that I hear about? the problem is I can't really hear that much of a lope? I have shorty headers but the it all runs into one pipe then into the same muffler then out. Would that kill the sound? It kinda mad since to me, but I'm been called crazy before too?

What's wrong with no lope? Just because a car is cammed doesn't mean it has to lope.

Do you have cats? What are the specs on that cam (most importantly lsa)?

Re: Why no lope?

I just love the sound of the lope!! From what I gather it has a 490 lift, and with the 1.6rr it will make it 510. Shouldn't it be lopping? Is it lift or duration that gives it the lope?

Re: Why no lope?

The duration matters somewhat, but its mostly the lobe separation.

I checked out that cam, it looks like its on a 112deg lsa. At that lsa there should definately be a destinctive lope at idle. Try to get some sound clips up.

It's a 218/218 cam. I have a 210/224 and there is no noticable lope. I would
not expect a noticable lope from yours either.

Re: Why no lope?

ID say idle rpm as well. You may have to lower it to get the lope. (Tuning)

I have a 224/230 on a 114 LSA and it does not lope all that much.

Re: Why no lope?

Lope is a product of duration and overlap. My cam is the same as shoebox's but I have it ground on a 110 LSA... its really choppy.

shoebox...I was just curious...How come you have a cammed LT1, but don't have any headers? And still using the stock converter? I noticed this on your modifications listing of your web page (unless it just hasn't been updated?).

Re: Why no lope?

The hot cam w/ 1.6 rockers and SLP shorties has a slight lope in my car @ 900rpm. I also surges slightly at low rpm in 1st and 2nd gear. This surge can be annoying at times. If yours does not have low rpm cam surge and makes good overall power, you should be happy. Don't get me wrong I like the power of the hot cam and it provides improved torque and power to 6000+. Tell everyone your car is stock then blow their doors off !
