why no 113 lsa?

i'm not really planning on gettin a cam soon but this is what i've found after awhile
i mean, you can get 110,111,112,114 lsa but i've never seen anybody with a 113
why not?
is it just a waste because it's not wide enough to go with nitrous but it is not close enough to make a difference n/a?
just a question out of curiosity

It's because people use what they see other people using. In general people don't like the 'unlucky' number 13. You see them occasionally, i know someone with a cc502 on a 113. Comp cams you can get ground however you want.

Yeah its just not very common. I have seen cams ground on a 113LSA though. When people usually order a cam they go with one that they know from somebody elses set up. Usually people go with 112 or 114 that is why you see it used so often.

11.03, Damn Derrick, you just need to make sure you take a big dump before you go to the track next time so that you can hit 10s.

can anybody explain lobe separation to me... im still new to all the aspects of a cam. i understand lift and duration but im still confused as to what exactly the lsa has to do with anything... besides emissions...

ROFL!!! I had traction issues on that run. 60ft. should be low 1.5's. Also I had 17" wheels on the front. I have a set of 15x3.5 draglites now. Car should go 10.80's with traction as it sits.

Lobe Sepation 101:

Wider Separation= decreased overlap, increase low end, lower detonation, later intake, earlier exhaust, increased vaccuum.

Narrower Separation (just the opposite) to wit:
increased overlap, higher top end, possible detonation, earlier intake, later exhaust.

Lobe Separation is ground into the cam profile and doesn't change no matter how the cam is installed/degreed.

Guess I should have mentioned that the "Separation" is measured in the degree angle between the peak lift of the intake lobe and the peak lift of the exhaust lobe.

So my guess is that a cam with 108 deg separation would be a high ender, probably quite peaky and good for circle track type competetion whereas a wider Separation, e.g. 112-114 would be better suited for low end power with a wider power range, and probably more suited for stright line, short range speed contests.

Of course there are many grinds in between that can provide optimum performance for various types of driving. JMHO
